Default Handgun safe

I am contemplating getting a handgun safe, or somekind of safe. NOT for my handguns, but for ammo storage. Does anyone have a recomendation or website that I could peruse?

I'd just store your ammo in a range bag, or bullet bag.

I am mainly looking for something securable because I do have two kids that I dont need messing with my ammunition lol. If there is a lockable or securable range bag that would work too.

dont use a metal safe for ammo....it can become a bomb if you have a house fire....buy or build a locking wood crate/box, or store it in a locking range bag...some range bags have zipper locks similar to luggage locks.

Might want to try gun cases. place I bought mine from is called Cases galore, mind you, buying in bulk will reduce the shipping price. Try to get a few people who need/want them before you order, the sample bellow is great and only costs $18.00

For ammo, the cheap solution is one of those sturdy Rubbermaid tubs, on wheels, with a hasp for a lock. Then use a padlock.

This is a nice secure mini gangbox with 5 cu ft storage. You could put a fair amount of ammo and other shooting stuff into it and have it located in one secure place.

The Knaack Box would be ideal if I weren't in the military and subject to alot of moving. I think this would suit me better.

I use a steel footlocker (not the cheapo thin pressed cardboard trunks that we all took to overnight camp years ago -- get a real STEEL footlocker). I put 6 large outdoor paving stones in it to weigh it down. You can use cinderblocks, bricks, whatever home Depot has handy. That makes it heavy enough that no one is going to pick the thing up and carry it off or try to move it (they would not get more than an inch). Use a padlok, preferrably one of those special kind for rental storage locker space. Thgey are round, sort of disc shaped, with a small area of the shackle exposed and it is pretty difficult to get at the shackle with a hack saw.

This is not a fireproof set up, but then a plastic (rubbermaid) container will go up like a can of gasoline if ignited, so that's not a fire proof solution either.
