Just throw the gun in your backpack.

MarcS has carried on campus for over a year, fslflint has done the same, so have some of his classmates. If you do it right, you'll have no problems.

Put gun in backpack

Put backpack inbetween legs when sitting.

backpack wouldnt work in labs, too much moving around. But I am considering one of these just for in school carry http://www.pagerpal.com/ if I were to. I do carry my pocket knife on me, which is fully acceptable and it just so happens to be a shrade XT8 which I have practiced throwing, its actually very well balanced for a folder.

I'm still in debate though, as I posted in another thread. Should I carry on campus.

on one hand, I'm risking my scholarships, and degree.
on the other hand I'm risking my life and the lives of my classmates.

With the stuff that has gone on around the off campus housing, and the types of people going to PTI I wouldn't put it past one of the druggies/dealers to go and shoot up the school over anything. But still, trying to make up my mind. Still have a week or so probably to decide but damn, wish I didn't have to and we could just carry w/permit on campus. I would even be willing to register with the school and say that I would be carrying.

just carry. (once you have your permit anyways) in my case I risk scholarships and the chance at an education at that particular institution. is that worth my life though, no. I would rather get made with my handgun then get shot in the forehead by some worthless piece of shit disgruntled asian guy.

I do carry on campus. I make no qualms about it, nor do I advertise it. if I ever get made and questioned about it I will ask them to remember the students who died on april 16th 2007 and don't cheapen there sacrifice by making me make the same mistakes that were forced upon them.

the gunman at VT had a target rich enviroment. he was prepared for what he had planned. if I was in that building I don't know what I would have done. but I train so that I would have Got off the X, shoot while moving towards cover and not stop until I was out of ammo or the threat was neutralized.

I wanted to post a funny bit I found yesterday. Then I woke up to this thing.

I know I'm a bit of a joker, but in the wake of this tragedy, suddenly humor was the last thing on our minds today.

I am wondering if this will weigh against gun owners, or if VT's anti-gun policy will back fire on them. If one student in the cross hairs stands up and says, "If only I had my own gun there......"

Guys as badly as it pisses me off that lives could have been saved yesterday if those laws were not in place, and as badly as I hate not carrying in certain circumstances that will not allow me to legally...

With all the debate that this type of event will spark, we gun owners and advocates do NOT need to be known for advocating illegal activity or violating gun laws. It's just the type of thing that gets used against us.

I certainly understand the anger and frustration, as The erosion of freedom is starting to kill innocent people. It has never been more evident that we need to do more to combat these politicians who violate our rights for political gain, but merely saying "to heck with the law, I'm gonna break it" is counterproductive.

No one is talking about breaking the law. There are almost no restriction on carrying in PA. We are talking about ignoring school policy or company policy, not a law. In VA it is against the law to carry on campus, but it is not in PA.

Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker was happy to hear the bill was defeated. "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."
That comment about defeating a bill that would allow students and professors to carry is just disturbing

I think the message against "advertising" that you are disobeying the rules is a valid one. The choice is yours to make, but it seems like some of you are even driving the nails into each other's coffins.

Saying you're "only" breaking a rule and not the law is still giving the gun owning community negative attention it really doesn't need at this time.

Like I said, it's your life. Protect yourself as you see fit. I don't need to know about it though.

Have a good one all - stay safe!

How many of you carry a first aid kit in your vehicle. Your prepared to defend. Are you prepared to rescue. God forbid your involved in a shooting. But if you are, having even a little first aid is better than none. Take a CPR and Basic First Aid course as a minimal. If you have the time. Take a OEM (EMT course gear more towards outdoor injuries) or an EMT course. The one you save may be the one you love.

Get yourself a Good First Aid Kit and keep it in your car. Then pray you never need it.

I do.

People think all the time about having to shoot an attacker, yet they never consider that they might get shot as well.
