Default Hornady Critical Defense ammo

Why does Hornady only make their Critical Defense Ammo up to 9mm? I'd love to try this in .45ACP. The concept makes sense and I just wonder why they don't offer it in the bigger calibers.

I use the Hornoday XTP series in my handguns for Self Defense and haven't had a issue with it.

I know it's not as cool as the Black TAP casings....

I use both Hornady products, I just wish they made their critical defense in .45

From what i understand the CD line of ammo is aimed at sub compact short barrel firearms. Hence it would make sense they only make it in .380,.38spl and 9mm.

Give it time...

This is brand spankin new ammo and they haven't made it in all the flavors yet because the testing has not taken place. The flavors available now are the first they tested to get a feel for how well they are to be received.

I have not tried it yet, but I love the tap ammo and look forward to checking out the ammo.

I'll have to double check as IIRC they will be offering it in .45ACP in a 230gr loading, at least that's what the current issue of Handguns says if I am remembering the article correctly. I could be wrong though...

ETA* I take it back, I was thinking of the new Winchester Bonded ammunition, not the HCD. DOH!

I removed some of what I typed because it wasn't important.

Quote:
The Critical Defense Ammo is new for us in 2009 so for now, the 380, 9mm and 38 Spl are the only loads we do. However, it wouldn't surprise me at all if we had the 45 ACP and 40 S&W added in 2010.

Subject: Critical Defense ammo

My question is, I will be carrying an XD45 on duty. Will the HCD be available in 45acp in the near future? I'd like to get 500 rounds of it so that I have enough to qualify for the next couple years, plus have enough to practice regularly with my carry ammo in addition to the cheap FMJ that I normally practice with.

I enjoy your products and I hope to pick up some of the 9mm for my other XD as soon as it becomes available to purchase.
