Not even waiting, sent this email to Congressman Platts.
Congressman Platts, On January 6, 2009 Mr. BARTLETT introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary A BILL To protect the right to obtain firearms for security, and to use firearms in defense of self, family, or home, and to provide for the enforcement of such right. In light of the soon-to-be administration's obvious desire of broad gun control measures, approval of this bill is desperately needed by the law-abiding citizens of our great country. Please support H.R.17 and allow your fellow Americans to defend themselves and their families. Best Regards John Pavoncello

Indeed. Going to really suck I think after tomorrow.

This looks to be from the United States Congress, not a state congress.
Under what authority can the US Congress make laws about this? And no, I'm not talking arguments about "Well, the anti's do it, so we can too". I'm trying to find a justification for it, but I can't seem to come up with one.

My guess is that its a happy feel good bill being passed by some people who want to be re-elected so when they have to start campaigning again in a year they can hold it up and say "SEE WE TRIED! BUT THEY VOTED IT DOWN!"
