Don't know of any shops in that area, but regardless I hope you like just looking. I believe that NJ shops aren't even allowed to let a patron handle a weapon without a NJ Firearm Owners ID (NJFOID) card. Gotta stay in the case otherwise.
My dad is a NJ resident and the shops he frequents in Central Jersey follow this practice, not sure if it's a requirement though. Take it FWIW.

There are only a couple worth a damn in all of NJ, near North Jersey, more central actually on RT 130 near Bordentown is the Sportmans Center and there is another one only a mile or two away on the same side of RT 130.
Can't remember the name of the other one, but I have bought stuff there before and as gun/sport shops go they both are pretty big with a decent inventory. Was last up that way about 3 months ago with my brother (he bought a handgun) service at both stores was pretty good.

There's Ray's gun shop on 22 in North Plainfield. I bought my .45 from them. They're a big police supply store, so there's alot of know it all off duty cops, or wanna be's. There's a place called sarco's in sterling that has lots of cool old guns.

About 2 years ago, they had some kind of promo, and they were giving HUGE discounts on used guns. I made out really well. I like sportsman's center better. I know they have truckload sales of ammo once in a while.
