Thumbs up New CCW in Monroe

Hi All!I'm a new member to the site. Just got my CCW a few months ago. Had been thinking about it for a while. The whole process took 29 days from start to finish. One of the better decisions I think I made so far in life. I was real glad to find this forum. Info on any and all topics concerning Firearm ownership and CCW and in the area that I reside. GREAT!

New Guy here, just moved to Hamilton Township from Ann Arbor, Michigan. I have a CPL in Michigan. I have to admit the requirement to have two references from residents of Monroe County has me stumped.

This is an issue in a few counties, as far as I know there is no legal basis for requiring that the references be from the county of residence. I would suggest giving the Sheriff a call, explaining the situation. I'd bet money that you'll be OK.

I moved to Pike Co. about 2 ½ years ago from NY. I used 2 friends of 40+ years who live in NY. My references got their ‘questioner’ last week and mailed them back on Friday. I applied for my CCW about 21 days ago and called the Sheriff’s office yesterday to get an update. They said I am approved, my app is on the Sheriff’s desk and all he has to do is sign off on it, should have it next week.

Dan,
I stopped in the Monroe County Sheriffs office today. My application was rejected due to having references outside of Monroe County.

Next step write a letter to the Sheriff, copy State Attorney General, State Representative.

Frustrating.

Were your references legal Pa residents? If so they can't reject you.
On a side note can't you go to two neighbors? Nobody knows you?
