Exclamation FYI - PA DOT I-Video Log, Virtual Road Maps

Hey Everybody,

Just wondered if other people had heard of this......

I guess I'm gonna go up to this gun show in McConnellsburg, PA tomorrow. I can't remember ever being there. So I got a Google map, yada yada. Then I remembered there's a Penn Dot site with virtual mapping along all major routes. It's like you can drive through it before ever getting on the road.

Their web address is http://www.dot7.state.pa.us/ividlog/video_locate.asp
just click on I Accept (terms and such). Then select the county and route you want to see; press go and a page will pop up and you take virtual drive on that route. Good for getting to places in the state you've never been before.

Probably slow over dial up though. Just thought I'd recommend people try it.

its easy to get to take 83 to the turnpike take exit 180 turn left you will go under a overpass about 10 miles after you get off the pike around a turn and into mcconnellsburg take the first rd on the left when you get into town and drive less than a half mile and it will be on your left over the hill

Internet Explorer only, what a bunch of crap. If you're gonna spend taxpayer money on something, don't build it only for proprietary browsers and Operating Systems. How about some standards-compliancy here? That way, anyone, anywhere, with their choice of browser can take advantage of what they're paying for.

*sigh*

We use PennDOT's video log for Occupancy Permits for poles and buried cables, segments & offsets... Quite a nice free tool.

WOW! What a waste of $!! Slow on a Cable modem and practically useless. It looks like its 5 years behind technology wise!
The private sector does things right....govt wastes $...and we need a sales tax increase to pay for this? Even if PennDot uses it who's the MORON who decided to let the taxpayers see how primitive it is?

Google Earth lets me actually see the terrain and fly to my destination, overlaying several choices of landmarks etc...The road map in my glove box is quicker than this PennDot Thing!!
