Well yet again another set of letters out to the ones that are trying to ruin us. Now I've tried the "Professional" letters to the Reps and Sens but that just doesn't seem to get through. So I stepped it up a bit and put more "personal" feeling into my letter. Thank you PAFOA for keeping me and my family abreast of the situations regarding gun control laws in this state. I try my hardest to keep up on them myself but sometimes we all need a little help.

For those of you that belong to Rep. Bobacks district... I feel sorry for you. It sounds like her and her office are all for the bill. They were EXTREMELY hesitant on giving me any contact information for Ms Boback. I guess they don't realize that she has a vote in the government to represent the PEOPLE of PA. For those of you who would like to read the email I sent let me know.

Keep up the pressure guys! I just got off the phone with my Reps Harrisburg office and from what I heard all of the various state representatives are getting a lot of pressure to vote against this bill. The secretary's exact words were "This one seems to be scaring a lot of people because everyone is contacting their Representative." I say good job!

Not only the email that you sent, I'm sure there are many here who would like to see any response to that email.

There was a teaser on the news yesterday (WTAE) for this so I stayed in the room to watch...

There was no "interview" or video clips, just the anchor with a photo of a handgun behind her, saying that there is a bill being introduced and that gun owners would have to register their "weapons" and pay a $10 fee per gun/per year, and that gun owners are upset... read about it in tomorrows Tribune Review...

I expected to see Ed preaching about "making our streets safe". That wasn't how it was reported.
This was even better, no anti-gun message being pushed and perhaps it woke up a few gun owners sitting in their La-z-boys?

Here is the email I sent...

HB760 is illegal under PA Law and it violates Federal law as well! Why is any Pennsylvanian entertaining the thought of passing such an atrocious law? What are “we” going to get out of this? What, line the pockets of the politicians some more by stripping our rights away? What is wrong with you people!?!? I will tell you this, if this law passes I will be the first to move out of this state and never look back! Yes I know, one family has left PA big deal right? Letters have gone out to the: NRA, JPFO, GOA and the Firearms Coalition. The one and only reason I left Alaska, after serving in the military, and came back to Pennsylvania is because of the gun laws. Now you are trying to take them away from us. It sickens me to think that this has even been written on paper! I would love to know why? Can you please tell me what this is going to do for us? Is this some how going to protect us more from the gang bangers? Will this protect us more from rapes? Will this protect us more from car-jackings? Will this protect us more from muggings? What are you going to do about the criminals? The only thing this proposed law will do is violate my rights as an American and as a resident of the State of Pennsylvania. Maybe before writing such laws you all should do a little research. None of this garbage that is being proposed in this law has worked. Perfect example: Maryland. How many MILLIONS of dollars were spent and how many crimes were solved, stopped or even prevented? Here’s the answer…..

$20,000,000
0 Crimes solved, stopped or prevented

That’s the greatest justice I have ever seen! Maybe instead of writing this trash and violating the rights of good, legal Americans you should think about highering cops that will do their jobs and not be the same type of creature they are trying to stop. Maybe you should allocate more funding to the police departments for personnel instead of voting pay raises for yourselves!

Another question… How many unserved warrants are there across this country?

As of one week ago: 1.4 MILLION! Wow, and you want me to give up my rights to own and carry a firearm? No, the law doesn’t state that, but I refuse to pay over $1000.00 a year to line the pockets of the crooked politicians. I refuse to become a criminal and that’s what you will be turning the good people into.

DO NOT ALLOW THIS BILL TO PASS!

Federal Law 18 U.S.C. 926 (2) (a)) being: No such rule or regulation prescribed after the date of the enactment of the Firearms Owners Protection Act may require that records required to be maintained under this chapter or any portion of the contents of such records, be recorded at or transferred to a facility owned, managed, or controlled by the United States or any State or any political subdivision thereof, nor that any system of registration of firearms, firearms owners, or firearms transactions or disposition be established. Nothing in this section expands or restricts the Secretary's authority to inquire into the disposition of any firearm in the course of a criminal investigation.

Pennsylvania Unified Firearms Act
§6111.4. Registration of Firearms.

Notwithstanding any section of this chapter to the contrary, nothing in this chapter shall be construed to allow any government or law enforcement agency or any agent thereof to create, maintain or operate any registry of firearm ownership within this Commonwealth. For the purposes of this section only, the term “firearm” shall include any weapon that is designed to or may readily be converted to expel any projectile by the action of an explosive or the frame or receiver of any such weapon.

So far one email response from Sen Baker:

David and Joanna,

Thank you for writing to me regarding your opposition to HB 760. As a wife and mother of two avid sportsmen, I oppose any legislation or regulation that attempts to restrict the rights of law-abiding individuals to purchase, possess, and use firearms for legitimate purposes, as guaranteed by the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. I also support concealed carry laws and the rights of citizens to defend themselves, their families and their homes from criminals.

Should this legislation come before the Senate, please be assured that my vote will be NO!

Lisa

This is so far the only response I have received.

Well, I must say that I'm pleased to see a response that doesn't include the words "As an avid hunter, I blah, blah, blah... your hunting rifles".

Not only did she use the words "Second Amendment", but she said THIS... "I also support concealed carry laws and the rights of citizens to defend themselves, their families and their homes from criminals."

wow.

Not to burst anyones bubble but this is an email I received from Sen Baker about the proposed "Assualt" weapons ban in Philly... Forgot to add the email I sent Sen Baker...

Dear Ma'am,
Congratulations on your win! I hope that my vote counted and my voice will be heard. I have recently received an email from the PAFOA. This email was in regards to Michael Nutter, Democratic candidate for mayor, in Philadelphia that is trying to "reduce crime" by infringing upon our Second Amendment Rights. I have attached a copy of the email for your review. Though I am not a resident of the city of Philadelphia I do frequently travel there. I find, as I get older and read more about politics, people like Michael Nutter are trying to rip our RIGHTS away from us with out care. I do not agree with his "plans". I do not agree that if you take away guns all crime will stop. It's actually the opposite. It has been proven many times over that states/cities with the right to own firearms have a lower crime rate as opposed to a state/city that infringes upon these rights. Case in point, Washington DC. No firearms owners and they have the worst crime rate in the United States. I hope that this person does not get elected as mayor. I hope that Pennsylvania will not allow any elected official to strip away our RIGHTS. I hope that you will be able to do something to prevent these Unconstitutional Laws from being passed. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank You,
David Jinks

Response:

Hopefully it's just not smoke being blown into the fourth point of contact. I'll be very disappointed.
