Pennsylvania Firearm Owners Association
HB2011 and HB1243 Updates

So far, there hasn't been a 2nd Consideration vote on either of these bills. WE NEED TO KEEP UP THE PRESSURE, and continue to contact our legislators - ask them to tell House leadership to bring these bills to a vote! Ask them to vote YES on HB2011, and NO on the Universal Background Check amendment. In addition, the FOAC is requesting support for an amendment proposed to HB1243 (Mental Health Records for Firearms Purchases) that, if passed, will allow HB1243 to restore firearm rights to those who have recovered from a mental illness.

when I was a kid, I would use a can of WD-40, you know, with the little straw, and light the end of the straw on fire and squirt the WD-40 through it. When it hit the little green plastic army men, they would burn. But l think there is a warning on the new cans stating that any use other than the intended use, blah, blah, blah.

Just curious, Why would anyone want a flamethrower? A potato gun I can see,( them are fun) but a flamethrower? Man, who pissed you off THAT bad?

A flamethrower is an unregulated device, even Federally, it's not even considered a weapon, its considered a agricultural device.

Flamethrowers are common at a lot of MG shoots.

feel free to discuss plans, or sources of Flamthrowers, however, you'll find that REAL flamethrowers like the US models garner TOP dollar in sales price.

don't armchair lawyer if you haven't a clue what the law actually IS.

lol, i want one because well... i do. but yea, played with a vietnam era one the other day, and since they cost about 4K and up, don't really feel like buying one, so i decided to build one. I did a little bit of research, and found that they are unregulated, so :-D now i need some plans.

sorry i can't point you to any plans...

however, when i was at Knob Creek, the guys there actually had flmethrower RENTALS.

for pure show tey didn't use the jellied gasoline, they used diesel fuel and the tanks were charged with nitrogen.

made a huge flameblast, but didn't shoot the pure stream of lingering fire you see in WWII type newsreels.

most of the guys i know who have them either have US ones complete, or US ones that they pieced together from parts, or copies of US one, like chinese versions.

just google it, but remember, you are carrying a huge pressurized tank of fuel on your back, best to get some advice from people who absolutely know what they are doing before building one

also...before someone tries to claim this is a Destructive device, or other firearm or explosive regulated weapon...the ATF doesn't even consider this a weapon.

below is the NFA FAQ, written by a NFA Attorney, just search for "flame" an you get to the portion:

http://www.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs/user/wb...st/nfa_faq.txt

this is what a destructive device IS and IS not under the LAW:

DESTRUCTIVE DEVICES

26 U.S.C. sec. 5845(f) "The term destructive device
means
1) any explosive, incendiary or poison gas
A) bomb
B) grenade
C) rocket having propellant charge of more than four
ounces
D) missile having an explosive or incendiary charge of
more than one-quarter ounce
E) mine, or
F) similar device
2) any type of weapon by whatever name known which will, or
may be readily converted to, expel a projectile by the
action of a explosive or other propellant, the barrel or
barrels of which have a bore of more than one-half inch in
diameter, except a shotgun or shotgun shell which the
Secretary or his delegate finds is generally recognized as
particularly suitable for sporting purposes; and
3) any combination of parts either designed or intended for
use in converting any device into a destructive device as
defined in subparagraphs (1) and (2) and from which a
destructive device may be readily assembled. The term
'destructive device' shall not include any device which is
neither designed nor redesigned for use as a weapon; any
device although originally designed for use as a weapon,
which is redesigned for use as a signaling, pyrotechnic,
line throwing, safety or similar device; surplus ordnance
sold, loaned or given by the Secretary of the Army pursuant
to the provisions of section 4684(2), 4685 or 4686 of title
10 of the United States Code; or any other device which the
Secretary of the Treasury or his delegate finds is not
likely to be used as a weapon, or is an antique or is a
rifle which the owner intends to use solely for sporting
purposes."

note that a flame thrower is not included, nor does it fall under any definition of a "Destructive Device".

Default Re: flame thrower

I've shot several US flamethrowers. A few friends have them. You're dealing with about 4 gallons of fuel pressurized to about 200-250psi, depending on how you have your regulator set. The compressed gas is around 1400psi. That kind of pressure demands a lot of respect. The potential for disaster here is enormous if a seal or a tank ruptures. As one of the guys who taught me on them told me, "you don't really need to worry, because if anything goes wrong, you'll be dead in seconds."

Take a look at how a real M2 or M9 flamethrower is constructed to maintain those pressures. If you have access to a machine shop, it's possible, but it's not your typical DIY project.

The chinese copies I've seen were copies of Russian flamethrowers.
