Default Has anyone ever thought about having an annual banquet for PAFOA members and guests?

Has anyone ever considered having an Annual PAFOA Banquet?

It sounds like a good idea, but I don't think that the PAFOA is enough of an organization yet... key word being yet.

Yeah, I think we have a lot of work to do before we get to that point.

One day when we're big enough I'd love to do those sort of things!

Ok, but I am curious to see what kind of feedback this topic brings from the members and guests of the PAFOA. Thank you "danp" for considering these things for the future. Oh, and by the way, I really admire you and all your endeavors regarding your goal to make the PAFOA just a real great and informative site for gun owners to want to be a part of. "The Pennsylvania Firearm Owners Association", in my humble opinion, has the potential of being really "GREAT" indeed!

I'd also like to see something like this happen myself... eventually. Right now, I think we hover around 2500 members, with less than 1000 "active." I think when we have enough people... and specifically enough "active" people that 200 or so might commit to such a thing, that's when the planning starts. Now, as far as the venue goes, I was also thinking Sheraton, but the Bucks County Sheraton (Langhorne, PA) rather than Philadelphia. It's close enough for nearly all Philly-area members, but located in the suburbs for those people who like to stay out of the city proper. Just a thought. Heck, I'm sure I'd be willing to sit down to dinner with a few of you bums! I might even buy a ticket for a door prize or something! I'm sure when the time comes, we could talk some of the local shops into it.

Marc

PS: Rand... I really like the fact that the "new guy" has come in big and full of ideas! Don't be discouraged if they all don't take root immediately. We're small, but we're getting there. Hang on to that enthusiasm! You'll work out well here.

Marc, I absolutely agree with all of your thoughts and ideas. And, thanks man, words of encouragement always help people in all situations! And, yeah, PAFOA is getting there for sure!

As fast as it's growing just time I think. Get more people and more funding and we could be doing things like that... I have high hopes and will do whatever I can to help.

I am chomping at the bit myself ....get some PAFOA activities going. I'll settle for a shooting session every once in a while...hurry up warm weather!

Realistically though once the "Boss" (Dan et al.) get the whole organization thing complete and get the ball rolling, I can see some serious stuff coming. Let's be patient and plan for the future, and keep each other informed.

I see your in Berks also rand...where are you shooting?

I think this would be a spectacular idea but, we should start off with some smaller venues to get to know each other on a more personal level therefore gaining more trust which will allow us to do things on a bigger scale. We should at least try to get together ounce a month, maybe a range meet at SPAG where Dan, myself and some of the other members shoot. I'm trying to set up a private screening at MBN Studios in Philly for the documentary on the second amendment by David T. Hardy called "In Search of the Second Amendment" that Dan suggested we should see. I'll keep yall posted.
