Sig handguns
I heard that sig handguns have a spring in the grip and if it were dropped hard enough it could break and render the gun useless. Is this true? p220 models

The mainspring is housed under the grip panels. Never heard the claim about dropping one.

IMHO, The sigs are solid. I would't believe you if you said my sp2009 was gonna break if you dropped it. Now, I won't recommend trying that with any gun as stuff happens! Sig has law enforc contracts the world over and I'm sure its been put through its paces a dozen times over.
 They are great guns fun to shoot.

I carry a P-220 on duty and I'm also a Certified Sig Armorer and I've never heard such a thing. Why would a spring break if the gun is dropped?
There are actually three "springs" contained under the grip panels. One is the main spring, the second is the decocking lever spring and the third is the trigger bar spring.

I was at the range and the guy working there told me it happened. He was definitely a glock fan though. So I thought I would ask you guys to get the truth of this matter to see if this was possible. Thanks

Prior to 1998 there were problems with the Sig p-226 and the P-220 series
trigger springs, I pulled an article from one of my instructor manuals that i used as a reference from the following web site: www.cybershooter.org, The Deactivated Gun Collector's Association. The review of Sig as well as other firearms, contains a wealth of information. The Two (2) problems with the trigger spring have been resolved since that time. I went throught the Sig Armorers school in 1990 in Exter NH., the problem was on rare occassions.

Does anyone know if there are post and dot night sights for the sigs? I've seen the heine straight eights and am not sure how to feel about them. At some point I'll get to shoot off some but my initial reaction is that the front dot is in the way. Anyone shot with them yet? Opinions?
