I've been experimenting with my loading of the revolver. I've been trying to find the most accurate load, using a round ball. 25 grains of pyrodex p and a .451 ball have turned into the best results. I've yet to try .454 diam balls. Haven't purchased the materials to mold my own yet.

I've been searching around a few sites trying to find a "Tennessee" .50 flintlock. I like the looks of a full length stock and shorter barrel. So far it looks like a Traditions will be the way I go.

Maybe if there is enough interest in it, we could ask Dan if a sub-forum for the smoke throwers would be feasible.

I goptta say, I have betetr results in terms of speed and ignition using black powder verus Prydoex.

About 5 years ago my father built me a SOLID brass ramrod that was drilled and tapped at both ends for accessories and cut for grip. These days it can by cut every 1/8 inch or knurled and will work with everything Thompson Centre.

He can custom cut one for $40 any length and style you want.

PM me for that.

I am actually going to be trading my friend for a replica black powder pistol an old laptop that I have. Does anyone know of any good websites to read up on the methods I have never fired black powder before, but as the laptop isn't worth a dang for me, it's just good for e-mail and web browsing anymore, it's a good deal for him and me. Do I need this transfered through an FFL? I'm not positive but he said his dad may have built it? It does fire I know that it's a .41.

no requirement for transfer/purchase of black powder guns. now you need some accessories, powder flask, capper, nipple wrench, holster, cleaning solvents, and I believe nra B-19 are the standard 50 yd bullseye target, if your interesed.

This is a good site, similar to ours but is limited to traditional black powder (v. inlines).
