Cheap .22lr pistols
My mother wants to start getting into shooting again and is looking at a .22lr pistol just so her and my dad can go out together for "dates". Anybody have any advice as to a good brand semi auto .22lr pistol? Used or new wouldn't matter. Just something to keep an eye out for.

you can't go wrong with any of the Ruger Mk series. New they are $300-ish and I have seen used for around $200. These seem to be the least picky about ammo too.

Re: Cheap .22lr pistols
smith and wesson 22a are nice too. The grip is a little bulky but they run around 250 or so. Ruger would be the best choice. If they can find a used MKI or II I would go with that. They are a bitch to put back together if you have to take it apart but you can find them for 150 to 200 and they run great. Good luck.

+1 on the NEO! Ruger's are great guns to (except for the 22/45, grip sucks)

Re: Cheap .22lr pistols
The only .22lr semi auto pistol I have experience with was a very old Colt Huntsman. I had a visit from the rangemaster when I was playing with that one. Apparantly my rapid fire with it was raising some eyebrows and they wanted to make sure I wasn't playing with an unregistered FA (I wasn't, I just have a quick trigger finger sometimes)

Another vote for Ruger but personally like the grip of the 22/45. They run great and last a long time. You can find them used for about 200 and get new for 300.(depending on model)

p22, ruger, buckmark. I may get lynched but out of all of our guns(see prior list) my mother likes the cheap phoinex arms 22 short barrel version. We have never had a problem with it and she is quite good with it.
