A pistol caliber carbine has limited value. There is a reason so many PD's are transitioning to 5.56 carbines.

Keep the shotgun and supplement with a carbine, i have one of the old federal arms 45acp AR's and i like it alot its fun to shoot. but is its limited in what it will do for a pistol caliber. i would only use it to fight my way to my 223 AR or my shotgun.

Depends on the type of CQB, indoor I'll take a shotgun with 00 buck any day, outdoor I'll take an AR or AK.
Inside it's very very tight and a shotgun with different loads can offer more flexibility IMHO, and more projectiles is better, less time to aim and I shoot instinticvly better with a shotgun (9 pellets, who can't?) However it does have a lower capacity and a slower reload time. Like 1911Shooter said, get both. The only way I'd consider a pistol caliber carbine is if Glock made one in 10mm. Out of curiousity, are you talking home defense or professional? ***ALSO IF YOUR SELLING THE BENELLI, I GOT DIBS!***

3 words for inside
![]() 10" benelli entry gun ![]() for outside, I'll take my m16 anyday...unless they are hiding farther off and need a 308, then its FAL:-)

I have a 6.8 rem upper on my one AR if there that far.

the 6.8 has AK range, since its a close match for AK ballistics.
the whole point of the 6.8 program is to have a US round that closely approximates the AK round in a US platform, 7.62x39 doesn't work well for long in the standard AR platform since the case head is a mite too big for the 223 sized bolt, hogging it out leads to eventual bolt lug breakages. my m16 will do anything at AK ranges and farther, but if farther than that, I'm switching to 308, but then, thats no longer CQB then is it

Home defense only.

Personally, if your looking for HD, and you have kids, STICK WITH THE SHOTGUN, load it up with good HD rounds, that won't go through walls.

actually, read a good ballsitics report on 223 penetration vs shotgun or 9mm on home building materials, the 5.56 offers less danger due to its high velocity and light mass, versus slower and heavier shotgun or subgun rounds.
