Try the PA State R&P Association, in the past they have been known as the state orgainized Militia.

I would think you would have a tough time finding any organized groups calling themselves or portraying themselves as "militias".

There were such groups in the 1990s. They found themselves facing alot of scrutiny after the Oklahoma City bombing. Timothy McVeigh was supposedly linked to the militia movement.

After that they were painted as being anti-government and "terrorists", they were watched and infiltrated by federal agents. The unfavorable public opinion and government interest was pretty much their downfall.

For the public record I am just giving a brief history lesson to the OP. I am not, nor have I ever been, a member of any "militia". No need for any black helicopters around here.

In looseknit I mean like minded people such as ourselves who don't generally know much of each other but are willing to band together for a common cause that involves fighting militarily for our beliefs. A couple of hundred+ years ago it was communities who formed militias. Today's communities now include organizations such as ourselves, ergo we'd be a militia if the need arose. This is what I believe the 2A had in mind in allowing us to bear arms, as well as a deterent to tyranny and self-defense of our individuals.

And it gives us the peace of mind of knowing Canada and Mexico will never invade us. Well...Canada anyway.

Exactly, they already have !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't Pa have codes against private group training as a militia? I thought the training was by the state and dictated as to what training is required by the feds.

IANAL. I do not know how they apply that law. Can a group of people get together and practice fire and maneuvering? Practice using cover and concealment etc.?

PA has a law against para-military training. Which would prohibit organized training like you see with the Michigan Militia and other factions.

You are correct about who provides the training, the state. With a Constitutional militia the state would appoint the high officers and commission the lessor officers. The officers would then take recruits for conscription or enlistment. The training would come down from the officers and state decree.

You, I, or Joe Smo down the street could not legally start a militia and start practicing and training as such. That would pretty much rule out armed maneuvering or anything close to would you'd see at bootcamp.

However there are legal ways around the law. Separate organizations, each catering to certain functions. Like a sportsman or gun clubs for the marksmanship, survival schools, paintball teams for tactics, etc, etc.. ...then the individual would combined all skills in his/her own.

To go out as a group running around in the woods with guns will get you labeled as a para-military group and find yourself on the wrong side of the law(as part of a wrongful law in my opinion).

Then how are the EASTIES doing it? Guess they found one of those wasy around it.

Would be nice to just get together and train, so you could share this knowledge with others and keep up on what is new and useful. I know, our club will be all for maintaining a group dedicated to remembering Military Maneuvers and Tactic for the future. And in doing so, we practice them so we can put on demos if needed.

They aren't getting away with anything. They do not train in a para-military fashion, and do have fed/state approval. All they do is civil service assistance like during natural disasters, search and recovery, etc. There is no guns involved at all, nor movement/strategy/etc. You pretty much do exercises to get into shape, then you apply your trade as a sorta MO, maybe taught a skill. You are also taught first-aid and other things.

PASMR is statewide even though the HQ is in or around Philly. I think they have battalions for differing parts of the state.

If you think about it. It is all good stuff to know if the SHTF. And then, these same people already have a group of friends that they know and trust, if they needed to ban together and ARM themselves in an emergency. They are better off than most of us would be. They already got a group organized to come together if things get ugly.. Heck of a lot better off than most of us are right now. Hmmmmmm.

Would this be one of those loop holes that someone mentioned earlier.

From what I've heard from other friends that are part of the PASMR - they are a good bunch of folks. They do get the yahoos that thinks its a "round around with guns in the woods" group, but they are put into place or kicked out ASAP.

One of my friends in DuBois has a niece from somewhere in Centre Co. that volunteers for the PASMR. She does alot of conservation work(dams, culverts, etc), work with the Army Corp of Engineers, and stuff like that. They also do searches for lost/kidnapped people.
