Guessing as to the content of the vehicle doesn't prove anything. The better question would which one they want to steal or break into. believeing there is something valuable in the car is not the same as having the volition to take it. I recall a study done a long time ago, that indicated the bag guys fear an armed victim more than they fear the police.

Seriously. A gun would last about 3 seconds on my front doorstep. I live in the unsolved murder capital of PA. And all my neighbors see me packing in the rifles on a regular basis. I've been told......"When SHTF...I'm coming over to your house".
Yeah..yeah...just bring some chips at least........ I'm just trying to answer the question..... ![]() (Courtesy of Oleg Volk.) |

burglary is a non-violent property crime, therefore, that statistic is irrelevant. Confrontation isn't an aspect of burglary.

I think many of us may be talking about completely different "scenarios" in this thread.
To clarify MY position on this subject... I DON'T think a "gun" sticker on your vehicle makes your VEHICLE any more likely to be broken into... I think most who see the sticker think "gun owner"... not "gun in car". Most (criminal and otherwise) would likely think that the vehicle's owner has a firearm ON him/her or IN the home. Which brings me back to my concern about my neighbors knowing there are firearms in my home. That one works BOTH ways. Some would decide to pick a less "risky" home to enter. Others could figure out VERY easily, the best time to let themselves in and would do so during the day when the home is empty. I don't advertise my hobby to the hood any more than I advertise new electronics purchases by leaving the box at the curb on garbage day. Any boxes that easily identify the product to those driving by get cut and folded inside out. Same thought process... "why advertise?" It's just one of the things many of us do to reduce the chances of having our homes broken into, like putting lights on timers and having the mail picked up when on vacation. Regarding the "gun free home" sign and "dead man" target on the door... home INVASION (when they know you are home) is less likely if the scum know ahead of time that death awaits them on the other side of the door, however, it (target) loses its effectiveness when they KNOW you are hours away at work. Clear as mud now right? There are a lot of factors to consider. By the way, I LOVE the "gun free home" sign for use in arguments with antis! When they say they don't believe gun ownership deters crime, ask them if they are willing to put that sign in their front yard. (they will decline, I assure you, but they won't admit the true reason for not wanting to ADVERTISE that they are an easy target) My thought is it's better to KEEP 'EM GUESSING as to which homes to target for crime. Like I said above, it works both ways and how you approach the subject of "decals" depends on your individual situation.

Ok it hard to say if gun stickers prevent crimes or not. If i'm not there maybe my truck gets stuff stolen out of it. Ok thats not cool. But if I am there and the bad guy sees it chances are he will not confront me. Now I don't live in a place where people get shot daily, if I did I might do things differently. I value my safety more than whatever a place like Philly can give me.
One more thing, I find it very important to promote the 2nd amendment. So am I going to stop because it may cause my truck to be broken into? HELL NO!!! I want my kids (when I have them) to have the freedom to protect themselves like I do. "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country." I do all I can promote the 2nd amendment. |

See this response from one of our own. http://www.pafoa.org/forum/general-2...ymag-wins.html You do it your way, I'll do it my way and the gun owning community will be better for it.
