Default Help with shooting left

I did a search. I remember seeing a couple threads in the past asking for help with shooting to one side or another. This is in regards to shooting hand guns. Even if some one could point me to the threads it would help.
Thanks
jason

My understanding with no follow through is that essentially you are using the wrong parts of your body in the wrong way to absorb the recoil of the gun. Trying to control the recoil by sheer muscle, instead of letting your shoulders take care of the natural flow of the action. Relax a little bit and let your body as a whole take care of the follow through instead of maybe trying to muscle through it. The gun should fire, move upwards, and come back to center. Trying to over compensate will not move it up, but left and up instead, in your case.

1. I hope that makes sense.
2. I damn hope I'm not wrong, lol.

Dang, he beat me to it. I always did think that guy is a right fart smeller,er, smart feller.
I'm wondering if your using the sights properly or if the sights are outta wack? I only pose this because I have no idea how much experience you have and people without some time behind the trigger get things wrong.

I would like to know what pistol or revolver is being used?, are the sights
fixed or adjustable? I always ask? Which is your "Master Eye". There are
several reasons to shoot left, etc. . process of elimination with this group
might help to nail it down.

Default Re: Help with shooting left

My former instructors had me adjust my point of aim to high right since I was hitting low left. Unfortunately, underpressure you won't do that. I was putting 7 rounds from my 1911 through the same hole but when doing timed steel plates or a shoot house it just wasn't happening.

IMHO, I would suggest you try and take a class with a top-notch instructor and have diagnose what is going awry. I took Randy Cain's Tactical Handgun 101 through the FIRE Institue and am a much better shooter for it. Not that I don't still need practice but...

Just my .02
