Default got a wisdom tooth extracted

This is my fault for postponing a visit to the dentist.....

A filling became lose in my wisdom tooth and I said that I would go get it fixed tomorrow. Then when tomorrow became today I pushed it off again, and again and again.

Well after a month of do it tomorrow, I got a surprise at lunch on Tuesday.

I took a bite of a meatball sandwich and I felt something like sand in my food. Of course I was going to blame Sams Club for the defective meatballs..........

Knowing that my wife would not be that careless in poisoning me, I spat out my food and surprise I got tooth fragments...rofl

So I called the dentist and went to get an xray and sure enough I shattered part of the wisdom tooth. Forty seven bucks later they were nice enough to tell me that I was in need of an oral surgeon and that they could not do the extraction.

After some calling around I got an oral surgeon who could do the extraction that day.

I took myself there and the surgeon, using the finesse of a body and fender mechanic got the tooth out, but not after I reviewed and signed a waiver that was 3 pages short of my last mortgage contract.

At the end of the 'procedure' the took out the broken tooth and gave me three stitches.

But.......they would NOT give me the broken tooth????

And they would not give me a reason other than they cannot give them back to the original owner.

wth???

It was MY tooth after all, and the last extraction that I had done in 1988 I got to keep that one.

So my only nagging question was is this a conspiracy???

Is the dentist going to use the tooth and assorted DNA to make some wonder cure that I will NOT get any royalties from??

Or was this an attempt to prevent any future legal actions against the dental practice or the dentist himself????

If anyone can help shed some light on this I would be happy, and I will be free to take off the tin foil. ROFL

Has this happened to any of you out there???

Besides the wife says that the tinfoil is clashing with my shoes lol

Man, I feel for ya...I have to go get 4 wisdom teeth yanks along with a failed and broken root canal. I am not a happy camper! Plus I am terrified of the dentist! There is no more a cruel, evil soul on the surface of the planet that that of a dentist! I have never been knocked out for any 'procedures' either, so that also terrifies me! Maybe I'll remain awake so I can grab the Doc by the bag and tell him, "If this hurts me, it's gonna hurt you just as much!" LOL

i had a molar pulled last year, for much the samr reason as you. 3 years ago, i had a filling fall out, then the rest of the tooth followed suit, crumbling bit by bit. the dentist had trouble pulling it, because the nerve he needed to inject wasn't where it was supposed to be. i argued and pleaded with him for about 30 minutes to just get a good hold on it, and yank it out, as fast as he could.

man, i wish i'd lost that argument.

i also asked for my tooth. they thought it was strange, but since it was mine, they didn't see a problem with it.

on a lighter note, i stopped smoking because of it. i lost my nicotine cravings instantly. i think it has something to do with the nerve involved, but i'm just guessing.

They needed to keep the tooth. Those radio transmitters are expensive.

I think it is some FDA regulation regarding medical waste. It has to be incinerated. It's stupid, but I think it is actually some federal regulation.

It could be that. Or they are going to grind up your wisdom tooth and use it to create stem cells.

I had all 4 of mine cut out at the same time... not an overly pleasant experience... especially considering they didn't trim down the stitches so by the time they removed them I had holes all through my cheek (which turned into cold sores of course)...

I hate dentists.

2. (rare, dated) ran out for lunch
3. Common variant of ROTFL.

Were you using definition 1 or 2?

You guys have it made!
Psh, hate the dentist? Wuss!

Try going to the gynecologist! Enjoy having huge frozen metal objects shoved up your whoo-ha?

Okay, try this! Take the jaws of life, freeze it, then stick it up your butt. Or, take your longest barrel, freeze it, coat it with frozen ky-jelly and stick that up your butt all while someone is pressing on your stomach!

You'll be begging to go to the dentist!

You don't get to keep the tooth, its unsanitary. Once its removed, its no longer yours.

Actually, they take it home and put in under their pillows. How do you think dentist's get so rich?
