I agree..

I too had a friend that was so anti-gun and gun-phobic that her and I would get into angry arguments. Nine years of arguments and debates. She was to the point that she'd panic in the presence of a firearm.

Not anymore.... She now owns my old Bursa Thunder 380, this Friday we are picking her up either a 5shot 38spl snub or a 6shot 32mag snub, AND we are getting her a LTCF.

Keep working on the moron, sooner or later he'll see the light.

Interesting thoughts all around.

My mother-in-law, who was a good hearted person, used to say, "I've already made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts." I almost fell out of my chair the first time I heard her say that.

When someone has bought in to an idea the game is over. You will not change their minds and the more you try the further entrenched their convictions will become. Chambered Round is right. They can be used as an object lesson to those who would listen to a lively debate. The important, and sometimes the most difficult, thing to remember is that character assassination has no place in the discussion. Even if they start the name calling let it go. Keep it cold and bloodless.

It sounds like he read the Brady Campaign's study that came out many years ago. The one that said you are 10 times more likely to be shot by your own gun than successfully fight off an intruder.

Only problem was they only count "sucessfull" as when the home owner killed the intruder.

But the idea is to stop the aggressive activity. It is never the goal to kill the intruder. (I know. Tell them.) Guns are used to stop violent crime thousands upon thousands of times every year. Very few of these incidents end in with the death of the bad guy. It would be interesting to compare the rate of death of the VCA's as opposed to the citizens they prey upon. It's a good bet that the bad guys are killing more law abiding citizens than citizens kill them. On a percentage basis it is probably ridiculously in their favor.

Firearms, I think are tools for certain 'scenario'. Just like knives or hammers or axes, these can inflict wounds as well, but do we need to get rid all of these tools too because there is imminent danger that you might chop off a finger or two while chopping basil with a knife? See, in the old days, you just own guns and no one seems to care.

I think the anti-gun movement gains momentum because the pro-gun movement makes a big deal of citizen owning firearms. But it is too late to turn back now because I think the anti movement has steam that it needs to bleed off. Hope I don't sound like a pacifist but I have a friend who lived in Greek and when I was there he showed me places that the people secretly hides their "caches", just in case. And you don't often see a Greek who goes around saying, it is my right to own firearms and thumbs his nose at the village folks, heheheheheh

My philosophy is just because one is armed does not make him/her 'superior' and sometime it (firearm) gives him/her a false sense of security. For example, cops are armed but that does not mean they are safe from criminals bending on destruction of themselves and others. So, have and keep guns, but they are nothing but tools. No need to get rid of tools, it is no biggies.

I once read a statement in a forum I Moderate in that went like this here: "A gun will kill on its own." I also read that guns kill people. I've seen guns in my Dad's house loaded in the corner for 15 yrs. and it never harmed a soul, one in the chamber too. Too many pinko commie media readin' dictators! It is the untrained person that picks up the firearm and does the harm, not the gun. Can a car drive itself? NO! It is the untrained and unlicensed fool that tries to drive it and messes up.

Ok, I can solve all the problems... All I need are your addresses and I will plan a route with my truck and trailer. I will then take all those evil guns and ammo off your hands and you will be free to tell your anti friends that you no longer have any guns or ammo. Just send me your address in an email and I will get to work...

PS: It would also be helpful if you list the make, model and how much ammo you need me to take. This way I can get the proper size truck and trailer...

Hey, watch yourself there. I've called dibs on all of the "mean old, bad" guns in Berks county. So anyone who needs to get rid of them in Berks county should feel free to PM me with the relevant information and I will be by as soon as we can set up an appointment. I won't even charge gas money.

Now I know you can't handle all those nasty guns by your self, but in the interest of being a nice guy you can have Berks County.. I will take the rest of the State... Please let me know if you need some extra help...

Truck is warming up now, but I still need your addresses!

PS: I also need a concrete contractor and someone who is familar with Ammo bunker design. I have an old backhoe and the land...

Oh wait I guess I shouldn't have said that...Ok skip the bunker stuff and read it as underground grain storage with humidity controls...

I think there are several types of anti-gunners. Included in this list are those who are misinformed, and those who are cowards. The misinformed are often open to the possibility that they are wrong. They can be converted with accurate information.

The cowards are afraid that others will find out about their cowardice. They are embarrassed by it and can’t stand the idea that people exist who aren’t cowards. They feel the need to pull others down to their level. They often couch their language in the jargon they learn from the anti-gunners: do it for the children; you are more likely to shoot yourself than the burglar; the burglar will take the gun away from you, etc.

Another group consists of those who have lost any faith they had in God and substituted faith is something else, like Global Warming or civilian disarmament, etc. They can be converted, but don’t count on it.

When you don’t believe in God, you don’t believe in nothing. You believe in anything.
