Question My next Boom-Stick

Now that I got myself a nice Yugo SKS, I seem to have caught some kind of military surplus rifle bug; I can't stop wanting more. I've been looking around at various Garands, Mausers, and Mosins, and AKs, but can't decide which one I want next. I probably won't be able to get another rifle until the summer so I can save some money.

Part of me says to get an AK as soon as possible out of fear of another assault weapons ban in the near future. Part of me wants to grab a Garand before they all disappear. Part of me wants to get a Mauser before they become too expensive. And yet another part of me wants to get a Mosin (M91/30 or M38) since they are so inexpensive.

Can anyone help me decide???

get an AK. You already have ammo for it and you can't beat it practicality/price wise.

Enjoy it cause there's no cure. A yugo was my first mil-surp, and it quickly turned into an sks, an enfield, and a mosin. The only reason I dont have a mauser yet is I've been buyung up 7.62x39 and .303 brit ammo any time I find it reasonlably priced.

As to which to get next, a mosin will be easy at $70-$80. You just have to look around. Then an AK, then the Garand, then the Mauser, then the K31, then ...

I'd have to second what the other posters said. Get an AK before '08.

Echoing previous posters. Suggest leaving the Mosin for absolute last, in terms of ban likelihood. The AK & ARs are high on the list. If you need ideas, just look at the previous (and current) list of banned guns in California, Massachusetts and elsewhere. It’s all about symbolism and cosmetics, nothing of substance.

Don’t forget ammo, magazines and spares, and keep your bill of sale as the Dems likely feel it’s “payback” time and you might need to prove when you bought it.

That's the thing I hate most about the media. It's all about fear-mongering these days, as opposed to actual content. From the media's point of view: forget about the actual lethality of a weapon... if it looks scary then it must be bad! And only terrorists have scary-looking weapons!!

Just one reason I don't watch "news" on television anymore.
