unfortunatly you can goto jail for that as well... assult with a deadly weapon. if you kill someone with a baseball bat, you'll get pretty much the same charges as a handgun. if you do fear for your life, call the police, get a restraining order, buy a big dog, keep a cell phone with you. carry mace... but remember mace is also a form of assult.... i'd go with the police/restraining order first.

There is no need to shoot someone in your yard unless they have a gun and are threatening to shoot you in which case your life is in immediate danger and you can then "light them up".

If they are just banging on your door shoot them...with a video camera, while calling police. If in the meantime they break inside then you can "light them up".

Remember ask yourself if a reasonable man would consider his life or others lives to be in immediate danger if the answer is yes it will almost certainly be a good shoot, but if not you need to deescalate as much as possible and stay ready while on the phone with the police.

BTW you don't "light them up" unless you like civil suits; you "feared for your life and stopped an attack" after that your lawyer does the talking. Then again depending on where you are in Arkansas you may not have to worry about the law much, as people tend to have more sense in the country.

My cousin lives in Iowa and some crazy guy (lots of drugs) has followed him in a truck numerous times. My uncle went to the Sheriff and the Sheriff told him (this is not verbatim but close) "if he gets out of the truck and takes one step towards you drop him where he stands, make sure he's dead, and then call me".

Gotta love those good ole boys.

BTW: Cousin is 13 and now carries a deringer in his boot with both his dad and the sheriffs permission, and in Iowa everyone has a rifle or shotty in their vehicle.

if several guys break into your house intent on doing you harm, the situation does change somewhat.

they outnumber you giving rise to what is called a "disparity of force". also, they are actually in your house, not just on the porch beating on your door.

there are no cut-and-dried answers, but these are the kinds of nuances you have to understand.

ultimately, there is no way to say ahead of time with any guarantee when you will be found to have been justified and when you won't...which is one reason (not the only reason) it is best to try really, really hard to avoid needing to shoot someone.

well he was constantly saying that he was gonna F*** one of my friends which is a girl. And kept saying he had a special condom just for her. I didnt like this one bit, and as a friend to her i told him to throw it away he doesnt need it. That she doesnt like you and at the very most you and her might be friends. He didnt take kindly of this and got a bunch of his good ole boy redneck friends together. They maybe called me for 4 hours straight leaving hateful vouce messages calling me a bitch saying i better not come outside that i was gna get my ass whooped. I just responded i dont know who u are this isa John not my name lol

The only instance of which I'm aware that someone shot another person through a door and avoided prosecution was outside Waco, Texas a few years back. But they had ATF badges, and they make their own rules up as they go along.

here's an idea then...

ignore him. these are all shallow threats. he said those things to get a reaction out of you and your friend.. which is what he got. Ignore him and take the power away from his words. then he'll forget about you and move on. at least that's what i've noticed a lot of bullies did to the kids in my highschool. I was 6'4" tall and 190 lbs all through highschool, played football, baseball, and basketball... so i hung around kids like that... yeah i even did it a little too when i was younger. but they all did it for REACTION... when the object of their attention did not respond, they moved on... try that first. if he confronts you again, ignore him. if his number comes up on the caller id, don't answer. if a number you don't know comes up, let it goto voicemail. maybe he'll leave one of those messages on tape, then you can take THAT to the police and further your case that way!

give that a shot before you do anything else and see where that gets ya. remember words are shallow, they have nothing backing them up. the only thing that matters is actions.
