Default First time cc

Well yesterday was my first time cc. Everything went well went to wal-mart, out to dinner with friends (got a good friend interested in getting a gun) All in all it was pretty eventful.

Gf is not taking my new hobby well...lol. She is petrified of any guns anywhere. Does not want me to carry anytime she is with me.

While i can understand her point i cannot understand why there is so much fear about guns. Yeah they can injure/kill people but so can a car and both are a mechanical device taht is controled by the operator.

I know gun safety have taken several courses and am very careful in all aspects of guns.....sigh any ideas? Tried talking her into going to the range just to see what it is like no go there either...

Go to www.corneredcat.com. Read the section titled Just For Men. There's lots of good advice there. After you read it get your GF to look over the site with you.

There is really only so much you can do. I have family that are scared of the sight of a gun in a gun cabinet. It's ridiculous. They have never had a negative or positive encounter with guns they just hate them.

Serious question for you, (no trying to be a smart ass). How serious are you with your GF and how serious are you about having guns. I know how I am with guns and the decision would be easy for me. My now wife carries an XD.

Great site thanks for letting me know about it. I have talked her into going to the range one time....So maybe she will feel better about it.

Cpratt we are pretty serious. I feel that her fear is due to she knows virtually nothing about guns. Up until 6 months ago i did not know anything either. I went out with friends gave it a shot and really enjoyed shooting. Took a few classes on safety and shoooting. it is something taht i do want to do.

Which i can see her point on it. When i am carrying it is simply that its in the holster unless i am at a range.

Then I would suggest you take it slow. And don't be like the jackasses you see on youtube giveing their 105lb GF a .50 cal Desert Eagle. Start with a small pistol. .22's are great for beginners.

My fiancee, Monica was completely afraid of and hated guns when we got together. Now, 10 years later, she is completely OK with them. OK, but not enthusiastic. She goes to OC and PAFOA events with me, but she won't join the forum. She is going to get her LTCF, but she is not in a hurry to do it. She belongs to the club that I do and sometimes goes shooting with me, but not always. When I'm not home she sleeps with these two guys named Smith and Wesson.

Take it slow, real slow, don't try to force her into anything. Tell her how you feel. Listen to how she feels, and don't dismiss it, but dont' give in either. Don't bug her to go to the range, but offer to take her along if you're going. Don't bug her to get a gun, or to shoot yours, or get an LTCF. Just tell her that guns are big part of your life now, and if she accepts you, she has to accept them. Not like them. Just accept them. It's no different than any of the things you have had to accept to be with her.

ETA: Congratulations on your first carry, especially under pressure from your GF. Now go apply for a NH license.
