My 1911 jammed??? Help me.
So I was on the range today with my lil brother and my Taurus 1911 had a horrible FTE. The round did fire, but the slide only travled about a 1/4 inch or so. I can see the ejector is holding the casing so I know its grabbing. But now its totally stuck. I can't get ot to move and the slide tool is of no use as I can't it to move to come off. What do I do?

I was waiting on that one.
Can, you tap the round out with a cleanng rod?
I know very little about 1911's, but a tap with a cleaning rod usually clears stuck brass. If that dosn't work, then I'll let some of the 1911 guys chime in. I never had that problem before.

Do the liberal thing
Lay the firearm down, take a step back, and with index finger waving from side to side, say Badddddddddddddd Gun.
That should fix it right up!!!!

A-Merc/American Ammunition ammo?
Anyhow, with the left hand grab the top of the slide firmly from the top. Basically put your thumb on the left rear cocking serrations and your index finger on the right, rear cocking serrations. Your pinky should be on the slide out toward the ejection port. Get a HARD grip. Get your palm right down over the sights and slide top.
Next, using the web between your thumb and forefinger on the right hand.....smack the gun right under the beavertail. I use both hands for force (that line is bound to be misquoted) bringing my left hand to the right and my right hand to the left at the same time. That usually clears that type of malfunction......which is very often ammo related (or something broke).
A wooden dowel will also work, as mentioned. Don't pry with it. Just put it down the bore and a tap it out. (I would never do this if a mag was still in the gun, though.)

You mean extractor?
Can you get the magazine out?
Look at the very back of the slide where the head of the firing pin protrudes. The FP is captured by the Firing Pin Stop. Occasionally, due to a weak FP spring or a loose or poorly fitting FP Stop, the FP Stop will slip downward out of its slot in the slide about an 1/8 inch or so.
