Question Magazine Spring Question XDs

Has anyone else had issues with their magazine springs on their XD mags being so stiff that they actually cased the magazine to dent the casing of their carry ammo?

Im wondering because after loading up a magazine with 12 rounds for my XD-40. I had left those rounds in their for a week. (This was afte rI had already put about 350-400 rounds through those mags.) After removing the rounds from themagazine I started to notice that the top 4-5 rounds would come out with some not so nice indentations in the casings. Springs are so stiff that their pushing the rounds against the indentations in the mag where it goes from double to single stack and just denting the case. The ammo is Federal 135 gr. Hydrashocks Anyone else have this issue with their mags denting cases after they first got them?

To add to it do you think it had to do with carry 12+1 in the XD that caused the extra pressure to dent the rounds or is it just the spring. XD is a great weapon just wondering if this is a common occurance with new mags.

Mine were extremely tight. So tight that I posted on this forum asking how I should be loading them. I was unable to get the last 3 rounds in on my own and I'm a pretty big and powerful guy. I used the mag loader to fill it to capacity and left it sit for a few weeks. They're still tight but I don't bleed trying to load em anymore.

I dont own a XD, but I own a few Glocks and they are the same.

Many Glock mags are VERY stiff when new. My G30 would dent cases trying to load them.

Get your cheaper range ammo and load them to full capacity. Let them set that way for a month or more when not using them. They will lighten up in time.

Yea i did that for a while. And then when i cleaned them i compressed the springs manually and that lightened them up a bit more. They seem to be ok now.

Yes, Brand new XD mag springs are very tight. I never had a issue were it would dent the bullet casing. However the longer you use them, the easier they are to load. First few times at the range i had to use the mag loader for them. After that it gets easier.
