Default How NOT to shoot a handgun

This actually happened to me about 2 months ago but the guy that took the pic just got around to getting it off his phone.

I had been using a 2 handed "combat grip" with my Glock 27. If I remember I let off two shots and then decided to switch to one handed, when I pulled my left hand off the gun I noticed blood all over the place .. one of those WTF moments.

Well needless to say my thumb must have been just a touch too high because the slide had "scalped" the knuckle.

Anyways, a napkin and some duct tape and the shooting was back on .. was a fun day none the less.

Things all healed up now even though I have a nice "war wound" on that thumb. Needless to say I pay a LOT more attention when using a two handed grip on any semi auto handgun .. once "bitten" twice shy

So for all you newbies out there WATCH YOUR HAND POSITION or you might end up looking like this:

Ouch!! That really had to hurt, I can't imagine, and don't want to find out either. Did you just let it get too high?

Is it hard to move the thumb/anything out of the path of slide on Glocks for some people? I've never really had a problem, I guess it depends on a persons size of their hands huh? I'd like to know.

I have large hands and have had my share of G27 bloodshed. The SIG 232 would also do a number on the webbing of my shooting hand. Two nice little "track marks". I sold both of them.

Actually I didn't feel a thing! Had I not moved to a one handed stance I would have unloaded the whole mag before I saw the blood.

I have fairly large hands and as I said my thumb just a got a little to high ... you can be damned sure it wont happen again.

Blood is tacky, it helps your grip. Don't be such a pussy.

OUCH.....

Since I often shoot the G26 I would like to prevent the same from happening to me..........

Two questions: Do you have an extension on the grip? and What is the "combat grip"? (I should probably know)

Happy to hear your OK!

Yeah, but then there's the risk of infection...doubly so if it's Zombie blood. Stick with the homegrown stuff, you'll thank me later when you survive.

All this talk of blood. Be glad it is a new moon and not a full moon.

However, I do feel a bit thirsty now. I think I will go out for a quick bite to quench that thirst.

combat grip: http://www.handgunsmag.com/tactics_t...ombatg_100306/

I made the mistake of rolling my thumb back to the back of the weapon and up a hair.

and yes I have an extension on the mag ... again all it took was my thumb up just a hair too high and its "scalping time"
