True, it also needless fills our prisons with non-violent inmates.

We need that room for REAL criminals.

As far as the "pot" thing goes, I notice on the internet there is often a pro-pot stance on forums and the debaters usually point fingers at alcohol being legal and drunks causing much societal harm.

But I don't see how that can be used as justification for saying pot is no big deal. It's more of an argument for prohibition.

Anyway, I draw the corollary thusly: If you really think that booze and pot are equivalent, assuming pot wasn't illegal, would you feel comfortable at the dinner table after a nice meal with your boss, parents or children:

a) having a wine or a beer or a scotch & soda

b) lighting up a joint

If you can honestly answer b), then let's just say you're either a liar trying to bust balls on an internet forum or... just not really the kind of person I'd care to be around (which I'm sure the feeling is mutual, to the satisfaction of both).

Having a beer is one thing, but I despise drunks. dated one for years and it's not a good thing.

I also despise prohibition even though personally I beleive alcohol is a bad thing. I also beleive in freedon of choice.

I just wanted to see how people felt about this illegal drug user woning guns, considering he may also be a well-respected and well-spoken member of our forum.

Perhaps the jury is still out on those counts as well?

It's harder to light up a joint. Smoking anything is already frowned upon indoors because it's not something you keep to yourself. If then the choice is between drinking scotch and eating a pot brownie I could honestly go either way.

Drunk assholes and High assholes are equally annoying.

True that... even when they're not drunk or high!

If pot were legal, I think I'd have no problem with people eating pot brownies.

But that smokin's gotta stop!

The drugs in and of themselves may not be harmful beyond what they do to the individual but the financial and supply systems connected to drugs certainly harms many many people. When alcohol WAS illegal we saw the same problems with it as we do pot today, with the exception of prisons filing up (not as much enforcement back then)

And they have guns because when something is illegal you can't go to the cops if a deal goes bad. Same thing for a prostitute, she can't flag down a cop and say she was robbed or raped. The only solution is violence.

(But I think we actually agree)

That's funny!

Assholes are annoying period. I have found throughout my life that stoners are far less annoyng than drunks. But alas.

As for wel-respected. I guess the jury truly IS out. It still has not been 100% confirmed they are the same person, but i don't recall seeing a post from PEX in a while, and the last one I remember was about practicing what you preach.

I guess there's no internets in jail.

Perhaps this is a negative thought, but do we know if the pot was in the house before the police arrived?
