I'm sure it happens, but I think the whole "what if that pot is laced with something

Thing is severly overblown. Yes, if you bought pot laced with angeldust and OD on your living room floor it will affect your family.

However having one two many beers at the bar on steelers sunday, and getting a DUI will also negatively affect your family.

Which one do you think happens more often?

RRRiiigghhhtttt ems, just like when you smoke a winston laced with crack.

I have never heard of anyone who actually "accidentally" smoked a joint laced with pcp.

Can you provide a link to an actual case??

You're not even trying to prove your point now, you're just putting forth what ifs. JUST LIKE THE GUN GRABBERS DO.

What if a kid get's a hold of the gun?
What if the gun "goes off accidently"?
What if the bad guy takes the gun from you?

The sky is falling..........

No one ever said that they knew of someone who would go and try heroin tommorrow if it were legal....hhhhmmmmmm?

Paco...I will concede your point on the "ass" comment. That was a step too far and I extend my apologies. Yeah, I did react to my emotions on this one but given my personal and professional experiences it should be understandable that my reactions would be strong. Just not thought out all the way in how I verbalize them.

Don't take my view as the only one I will listen to. I have heard many of them in my years and sometimes will change my mind. But drugs are not a victimless crime. Yeah, the person sitting on their couch is harmless but this stuff goes way past the couch. One of the main reasons we arm ourselves is in defense of addicts bound and determined to get another fix. Victimless? Google Dadeland Mall (Miami) and shoot outs. How many children are unintended targets of drive-bys born of drug & gang turf wars? An even greater number of children are lost forever because the parent(s) are wasted and just don't give a damn about the kids. They are the next generation we will be arming ourselves against. How about all of us who pay taxes that get spent on jails, courts and medical needs of the ones who get caught up in the victimless drug culture? I am a victim, my children are victims. I want better schools, roads, military, hell, I'll even take more flowers in the median strip. But I don't want my money thrown away on those who committed crimes against society. And will continue to do so till dead or in jail. The recovery rate for addiction is only about 17% after one year clean. There is no victim for the man on the couch with a joint, but follow the trail and you will find victims....besides the taxpayers. Read the Bucks County Courier-Times (9/23/08) first page story. It's about the murder trial over drugs. I knew one of the victims. She was the babysitter.

D.A.R.E fell apart because it was shown to actually increase drug usage in some cases where the program was implemented.......

Ok I lost about 30 minutes worth of research before when I tried to post...anyway...

Bey, Tareg et al. Phencyclidine Intoxication and Adverse Effects:A Clinical and Pharmacological Review of an Illicit Drug. Western Journal of Emergency Medicine. Vol.8:1. 2007.
http://repositories.cdlib.org/cgi/vi...=uciem/westjem

"PCP has re-emerged as a drug of abuse in this decade since
its decline after the 1980s. In 1979, 12.8% of twelfth graders
had used PCP, whereas in 1997 only 3.9% had used this drug.1
However, phencyclidine continues to be found in PCP-laced
marijuana cigarettes (“whacko tobacco”), and has been detected
in up to 24% of street marijuana samples. Regrettably, exposure
to the smoke and butts of these cigarettes has resulted in many
cases of occult pediatric PCP intoxication."

"A typical PCP-laced marijuana cigarette contains 1 to 10mg
of the drug. The average tablet varies in weight from 1 to 6 mg.3,
9 Only 0.25 mg of IV solution is required to produce sedation,
compared to 10mg required via ingestion or inhalation."

http://www.accessmedicine.com/content.aspx?aID=2678546
[PCP, 1-(1-phenylcyclohexyl)-piperidine] is a dissociative anesthetic agent with properties similar to those of ketamine. It previously was marketed for veterinary use, and it became popular as an inexpensive street drug in the late 1960s. PCP is most commonly smoked but may also be snorted, ingested, or injected, and it is frequently substituted for or added to illicit psychoactive drugs such as THC (tetrahydrocannabinol or marijuana), mescaline, and LSD. -Abstract from above.

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpag...51C1A962948260

"Three PCP-laced cigaretts, which consist of tea leaves, parsley or cheap marijuana treated with the drug and rolled into cigarette form, sell for only $15. "

"In one case last summer, a driver reported to be intoxicated on PCP crashed his vehicle into a bus stop, killing eight members of a Washington family."

Anyone who says pot isn't a gateway drug, read here...it is so much so that KIDS are piggybacking substances other than hard drugs to increase the high.

This is a reality and a common practice...who knows what you might be getting from a dealer? This is in fact one of the arguments often used by the "legalize it!" crowd.
