Re: ARE THERE MOUNTAIN LIONS IN PA?
Although i cant say for sure now, I know for sure that at one time there were. In the early 80's there were mountain lions in an area just southeast of tionesta where my family has a few camps. There was a big field of brush between two of camps and there were some coming in there.
The game commission denied there existence even during and after they trapped those very mountain lions on our property.
I think i recall at some point they eventually acknowledged their presence, but say they are no longer here.

Re: ARE THERE MOUNTAIN LIONS IN PA?
well, if you mean i think objectively and logically and look for verifiable evidence and reject unverifiable "evidence", then, yeah, i guess so.
thanks for the compliment.
not sure any of the actual lawyers on this board would like having me lumped in with them, though...

Yep, this is my neck of the woods. 118 disects my farm. I am 4 miles West of said intersection. Press Enterprise out of Bloomsburg did an article on it some years back. They mapped out an area and even had photos of prints and what not. But since the PGC does not "certify" the results, the consensus is they do not exist.
Be safe.

My mother watched one play in the backyard in Pymatuning last year. She's killed several deer and knows what a Bobcat looks like. She's was adamant about a "3 foot tail".
No surprise to me. 15 years ago hardly anyone would have owned up to coyotes around here.........

I don't get all this talk about the PGC denying they exist, when the practically bitch slapped me for not calling in the siting. They asked me what it looked like, the kids and I all described it, and they said yep, that's the one we've been after.

Re: ARE THERE MOUNTAIN LIONS IN PA?
Why does the PGC come in like swat when it comes to mountain lions? Dont these animals have a right to be here? If few people can aknowledge that they are even here tells me they cant be causing too much trouble.
Why are they trapping them? and where are they taking them?

Re: ARE THERE MOUNTAIN LIONS IN PA?
It never occured to me that they don't really exist, so I didn't think to ask what they'd do if they trapped it. I assumed they'd relocate it to the mountains to get it out of the backyards of the meadow mansions where the owners call 911 when a skunk waddles through the yard and think deer are only supposed to cross the road near a deer crossing sign.
