First off, let me say that flashchat is a pile of crap. While it may be suitable for small forums, it fails miserably under any real user load. Thus, it was disabled.

You will need to install a free IRC client of your choice in order to connect. Most users will want to download mIRC (www.mirc.com) which is probably the best free IRC client for windows.

It will make you wait 10 seconds or so when you start it up if it's unregistered, just wait the 10 seconds and then click continue


Advanced IRC users may connect to irc.efnet.org and join #pafoa

I guess some people are still having a hassle. If all you want to do is basic chat then install Firefox or use one of the Java-based chat links earlier in teh thread.

Get this extension https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16

Install it and restart firefox. Click on the PAFOA IRC Chat link up above.

It should open in a new window. If your nickname isn't right or whatever, type /nick <yournickname> . There's a 15 character limit.

To change your preferences go to Tools > Add-ons , Select ChatZilla and select preferences.

It's all greek to me I can't get it to connect and the version I downloaded says it's a 30 evaluation copy then wants $20.

Had lots of trouble trying to get it to download in the first place.

Downloaded and connected fine for me.
It just wouldn't let me connect through the link with firefox.

First I don't know a thing about this IRC stuff. I finally got the download to work and install.

I have a new problem now, once I click on the PAFOA IRC Chat link here's what I get (and I'm not sure of what to choose)









I hardy ever use chat and I'm about to give up on this, however ......

..... little help please?
