DELTONA, Fla. (AP) -- An angry Deltona father whacked his teenage daughter's boyfriend with a metal pipe after finding the boy naked in his daughter's room. Authorities say the father, 45, didn't even know his daughter had a boyfriend or that the youngster had been sneaking into the home for more than a year.

When he heard noises coming from his daughter's bedroom Thursday morning and saw a stranger standing naked on the girl's bed, he swung a metal pipe. He then chased the teen out the front door and called police.

The boy was taken to the hospital where doctors closed a head wound with staples.

The father was charged with aggravated battery on a child and bonded out on $10,000.]

This boy was lucky... in my house there would have been a gun in my hand, not a pipe. I'm shocked the father was charged with battery. If I had heard noises and upon investigating found a naked stranger standing on my daughter's bed I quite possibly might have shot him. It's true that you can't get the bullet back once you fire... this could have turned out a lot worse. What would you have done?

A) The father didn't even know his daughter had a boyfriend
B) Where were the boyfriends parents
C) He was breaking and entering for over a year ??????

I think I would have tackled him, grabbed hold of his little pecker and walked him all the way home....and made him ring the doorbell when we got there.

he handled it alot better than I would of.......also side note where he this dad been for a year dosent know if daughter had a BF for over a year....and didnt know someone has been breaking and entering into his own house? Sounds like this girl has some daddy issues and is probably a future stripper, or it sounds like dad needs to spend some more time with his daughter.

Takes two to tango........I WOULD HAVE BEAT HER ASS!!!!!!!! Then I would have beat her ass that night, the next morning, and beat her ass into the next week. And then beat it again, just so she wouldn't forget. And probably beat it again.

What kind of parent doesn't know what's going on in their own house? Total irresponsibility on the Dads end.

How could you finger the boy? Bad parent, bad daughter! The apple didn't fall far from the tree on this one.

I'm glad this was brought to another thread. I saw it before and didn't want to hijack the more serious thread about the man hunt for a convicted molester.

When I was a young lad, at an age much younger than I'll ever admit to my kids, I was caught in a similar situation. The sun was about to rise so I was getting ready to leave the g/f's room. We had gotten away with me sneaking in all summer long (second story window, trellis. Moms and dads forget the roses if you have a teenage daughter). Probably our last night together for a while, so she was being playful and I wasn't resisting.

The door opens, I'm there buck naked, her eyes as big as pizzas, dad standing there with the light from the hallway shining right on us through the open door. I personally went shooting with the guy and knew he was quite good with his 20 gauge, so it was one of those life-before-your-eyes moments. He didn't say a word, just closed the door. I grabbed a hand full of clothes, jumped out the window (forget the trellis) and ran home. I waited for the phone to ring, a car to pull up, sirens, but nothing. The next couple days went by with no phone calls or events, but I knew better than to try to call her.

A few days later school started and when she got on the bus I asked what happened. She said her dad didn't say a word for a day or two, then took her down to the docs and got her a prescription for BC pills. She tried to tell him that it wasn't necessary and that she wouldn't see me anymore, and he said "that's for damn sure, but it's not for him, it's for the next guy". I took the hint and we stayed platonic friends until I went off to college (she got pregnant shortly after by my best friend, both age 17, guess she forgot her mommy-not).

I only related that anecdote to get back to the OP where the dad whacked the b/f with a pipe. As a dad, my first reaction was the kid got off easy. As the kid, I think the dad may have known who he was before clobbering him, but acted in the heat of the moment. I hope the dad can get off without a life changing verdict, but use of deadly force with intent to inflict serious injury (thus the charge of aggrevated assault) is a serious crime, and unless he had reason to believe his daughter was truly in serious danger, and not simply exacting his rage on the b/f for his daughter's willingness to participate, I think the charges are warranted. Of course, this is only based on the sketchy details of the report. DAs don't charge dads with aggrevated assault who are protecting their daughters without a lot more information than we have. Again, I told my little tale because even though my g/f's father didn't know she had a b/f, he saw a naked person with his daughter, but he stopped, if just for a second and kept a clear head long enough to realize his baby girl was not in danger (at least of any immediate nature). The only difference I see here is that if he whacked me with a pipe, my father would have thanked him and told the doctors and police that he was the one who inflicted the wounds requiring stitches.

Although I've cut down every tree within 20 feet of my house, oiled the drain pipes and put non-removeable screens on all the windows, should I find myself in such a position with my daughters, I think getting the perp to submit to my demands at the end of a shotgun would not result in charges. I'd then deliver him to his house, naked, where he could explain to his parents the purpose of my visit. And later my daughter and I had our own talk. Although I'll have to add the caveat that this is all very easy from an armchair view, at least it's not a situation I'm not totally unfamilier with.

Well said! I believe that they are BOTH to blame, not just the boy. She had to be there as well for "it" to happen. I wouldn't have hurt the boy, but damn would I be pissed. My wife just had a good idea, similar to rady8um's:

Call his parents and make them come over. Make the boy and daughter stay where they are, and cover up but not get dressed. When the parents arrive show them EXACTLY how the two were found.
