Default One less buck in PA

I pulled off the road to monitor some traffic last night when I saw this deer bolt for the highway. He got smacked by a car, which never stopped. But the scariest thing was the size of the second buck running with him. This second buck was a monster. Easily the biggest racked buck I have ever laid my eyes on. Had to be at least a 10 or 12-point buck with huge tines.

I saw him running and was wondering how he could hold up his head. Luckily he made it across the road. These guys may have been down by the river drinking. The PGC came down and picked up the first deer.

That's odd. A car hit this buck hard enough to kill it, but kept on driving? Maybe he/she saw you and didn't want to stop because he/she was drunk or didn't have a license or insurance?

And yea, deer don't last long in this state. What the average lifespan for a buck, something like 3 years?

No, the driver never saw me from where I was sitting. I thought for sure the driver would stop, but when it didn't I figured the driver was probably drunk or no license, etc like you said. The deer was still kicking in the road, so I had to pull my cruiser across the road to stop traffic. I thought I would have had to put the deer down but it expired quickly.

The driver hit the deer so hard it flew about 10' into the air.

Default different schools of thought on this.....

....some people don't wanna stop cause the car might not restart and NO ONE wants to get out on a dark scary highway to look at a buck/deer that may or maynot be dead...

This was a very busy highway with lots of well lit places to pull over. I was waiting all night for the person to at least call the station, but they never did.
