Apologies for the short notice.
I have openings for up to 5 folks for a Utah Concealed Firearms Permit course in Harrisburg, PA for THIS FRIDAY, Sept 5th. Course location will be the Super 8 Motel on N. Front St, Harrisburg (Suquehanna Twp.), PA 17110. Why? I had a course pre-arranged that included a group of private duty Corporate Flight Attendants (yep, go ahead and drool...) . Due to a change in their travel itinerary their class has moved up one day to Thursday. Course start time can be flexible between 10 am and 2 pm (majority rules). Course runs 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 hours + admin time afterwards for application completion, endorsement of the app with Utah's State Seal and fingerprinting. Allow 7 hours to be safe. Course is normally $75 + $13 fingerprinting fee per the state. Fingerprinting fee waived for this session ($13 savings). PAFOA members receive a $10 discount ($65). Active LEO's or immediate family receive a $25 discount ($50). UTAH permit is $65.25 for the first 5 years, $10 renewals thereafter. A PA resident can carry in PA on the Utah permit alone. A PA resident with a Utah permit only can carry in 29 states. A PA resident with a PA LTCF and a UTAH CFP can carry in 34 states. You must be a minimum of 20 years old to take the course. You can apply for the permit up to 1 year after taking the course, provided it is done on your 21st birthday or thereafter. No live fire or range time required, per Utah. Personally, I do not believe in charging a much higher price for the course when you will not really benefit from taking an hour or two out for range time. Most folks would be much better served by taking an NRA First Steps Pistol, NRA Basic Pistol, or other independent course - either before the Utah course on in the 55 - 65 day permit processing timeframe. Safe firearms manipulation and the clearance of stoppages or jams are all covered via the use of inert dummy ammunition. I will have 6 - 12 example firearms on hand so no need to bring your own unless you wish to do so or have questions specific to your firearm. (PLEASE ask in advance if you have ANY questions as to safe and legal transport). For those who cannot attend this session, I am from Pittsburgh, PA and have a second home in southwest Virginia just "above" Mt Airy, NC. I travel and offer the UTAH course full time in 5+ states for Utah and can travel to your site provided you meet a minimum head count which is determined by my fuel and lodging expenses. This may be as few as 4 folks or a minimum of a dozen or more. Initial contact to be via PM here on pafoa.org. Please provide full name, telephone number and email address. You will then be 'moved' to an email exchange for those attending this session (no personal info displayed there). Due to class / range /travel committments, I prefer that phone conference requests be initiated via PM or email please. Saturday and Sunday run too long at the academy for me to offer a class afterwards, hence the Friday class. Best I might be able to do is offer a split class on two consecutive nights the second or third weeks in September, one half Friday evening, one half Saturday evening, if enough folks were interested, say 4 to 6 students. Again I am just taking advantage of my already being in town for the Public Safety Training Academy, I couldnt normally afford to travel to Harrisburg and offer a class for that small of a group. I would return to the Harrisburg / York / Lancaster area for a minimum group size as small as 10 folks, 12 or more preferred but 10 is do-able depending upon the location / hosting site.

To be clear: The Utah application and fee ($65.25) can be sent in up to 1 year after taking the course. I commonly perform banking every other Tuesday, so postdated payment for the course fee ($75 / $65 for PAFOA folks) is an option I offer all sessions. Next bank day for me is Tuesday Sept 16th.
