Default My wife asked me "Not to Carry"

yesterday we were invited to go to my wifes freinds camp in two weeks. my wifes freinds don't approve of my OC/CC. she asked that i only take my pistol and when we get to camp i leave it in the truck. their camp is on the border of the ANF. right in the middle of Bear, Coyote, and Rattler country. we are taking our 1.5 year old son and black lab with us as well. i told my wife that while at camp i would CC my .45 acp, just in case. she started to argue with me and i told her that was fine. i will stay home with my son and dog and she can go with her friends and their little utopia where nothing bad ever happens. she appolagized and said to make sure i keep it well hidden.

what does the hive mind think? should i CC the .45 or should i cc the little .380 in my back pocket? she also told me i wasn't allowed to take any of the other toys like my ARs to camp to shoot for fun. i already made room in the truck for those when we head up.

i dont know what the ANF is but "right in the middle of bear, coyote and rattler country" would have me carrying several firearms. I would CC both to appease the wife but keep a rifle or shotgun close in the truck.

well if the AR would annoy them, and they own the land, I'd respect the landowners.

I'd keep the .45 concealed anyway, .380 is too small if you feel concerned about a bear (most of the time the black bears are like big dogs though, I just yell at em when I need to).

of course, bring both and swap as the need dictates.
good practice for deep concealment in summer. I know in my kramer IWB I can hind my commander in shorts with tshirt, but it's still kinda 'big' annoying when it's hot hot. I probably should get a .380 sometime............

ANF=Allegheny National Forest

all her freinds husbands hunt, but none of them carry and i don't think any of them think to have a firearm at camp.

the ARs are staying in the truck unless one of the Fudds wants to try an EBR.

i refuse to budge on not carrying. i will CC my .45 but told my wife i lost all respect for her friends.

what does a small child soundlike to a bear when he crys?

Answer..........Dinner.

not my son if i have anything to do about it.

.45acp shot shells should be good for snake, the bang would scare off a coyote, load 2 shotshells first up then something else for if you need to actually SHOOT something. CC and no one will know.

Maybe bring a BB/pellet gun for fun, and put a .22 in the truck in the truck hidden in case they like it. .22's can easily win over people, its like the gun that isnt really a gun.

Good advice.
Sounds like it could be an opportunity to win over some "new" gun people. Nothing better than popping cans with a .22

take the .45.

it would be better to have something with more penetration, but .45 is better than .380.

shooting a bear with a .380 would be roughly akin to shooting your high school principal with a paper wad out of a straw.
