Default Unexpected OC experiences…....

Yeah……I don’t find myself on the site much lately. But it is what it is (who’s got that sig-line??? That’s a common statement I say over-and-over at work anymore as well.)

So. About 2 weeks ago (??) I bought a Romanian Trainer .22 off of Gunbroker. I paid $82 + shipping (see attached pics).
So I send my money order and the seller sends it to Chris at Advanced Arms.

Wellllll. I’ve been super busy at work lately and cannot get to Advanced Arms when the rifle shows up. I FINALLY get some time yesterday…Saturday Aug 23rd.
My wife has biiiiig projects going on. We have 4 little kids and school is about to start. We spent a TON of freekin’ money on school clothes 2 weeks ago and she had to go through all the closets and remove that which is too small and replace with all the new clothes.

My wife said “Go get the rifle, but take the troublemakers with you!”

I’m down with that!

What I DIDN’T know was that Saturday was the Pittston Tomato Festival!!!
I don’t know Pittston well enough as it is, let alone how to overcome the fact that the whole city seems to shut down for half the day for a parade!

I had to park about 5 blocks away from the gun shop on Butler St. (no choice. Stuck on a one-way road.) and walk my way in.

Me and 4 kids in tow made our way to Main Ave.

The streets were FREEKIN’ PACKED! Parade in the road, and jammed spectators on either side.

So away we went. The two oldest girls (7&8) held the two boys hands (3&4) and followed directly behind me as I weaved through the standers and sitters. I wasn't gonna turn back or untuck!

If anyone noticed my GP-100 OC’d at 3 O’clock, I didn’t notice. But there were sooooooo many people!

It took about 15 mins to get to the shop!.

We split between the parade across the road and went up to Advanced. Chris was kind enough to honor my request for a box cuz THAT would have been a little awkward to be walking through the parade with a black rifle!!!!

We exited the shop JUST in time to catch the 15 some-odd fire departments rolling. WOW! Was THAT loud! Sirens & horns etc!!!!
The kids loved it though.

So – OC’ing through a parade? No biggie. TONS of cops all around. Tons of fire police. Tons of everybody. Either they didn’t see……or they didn’t find reason to question. I didn’t care. I was legal.

When we got back to the van, we had to wait about 25mins for out traffic jam to finally move. I made a right onto Main Ave and rode that to Scranton.

The Burger King pit stop (Old Forge) for pee and chicken nugget snacks was uneventful.

In Scranton, we went to Galucci’s music. It was PACKED!!!! I didn’t know it ahead of time, but Jim Riley, the drummer from Rascal Flatts was there holding a live drum clinic. WOW! That guy freekin’ ROCKS!!! He was playing KILLER drums…..and it wasn’t no country! He ripped through a few Led Zepp and Sting songs while we were there! The kids LOVED it! (so did I). Anywho…..packed house with an obvious firearm on my hip had NO ONE running and screaming. And my two oldest girls got signed up for their first music lessons – Avery will start on guitar and Peyton starts piano. Niiiiiiiice!

Then…..we went to the Scranton Hobby Center (right next store to Galucci’s) to get some Estes model rocket engines (we were getting’ ready to shoot our rockets off for the first time!). No OC issues there either.

Today – Friendly’s in Dunmore was cool as well.

Even when I used to post a lot on this board, I really didn’t post the places that I tested/frequented….so I won’t bore you with that now.

Though I do stop in Borders in Dickson City a lot more now than I used to….with nary a comment. Both malls (Steamtowm & Viewmont) are places I OC in constantly…sometimes with the family, sometimes alone, without any incident.

Either way…..it was a very busy OC weekend. I mixed may carry up between the GP-100 & the XD45 full size.

Thought I’d share.

I have three of the trainers in my safe. The stock design is slightly different. I gave one to each of my sons a few years ago.

You will have to do a range report.

Yeah.....That stock isn't.....uhhhhh......stock!

It came like that with a subdued black coating that gives it an almost 'synthetic stock' feel. I really like it! But what's odd is that it still has the in-butt cleaning kit cubby (though the rifle came without a kit).

I really think the variable setting rear sight assembly is pretty neat. And the action/trigger is oh-so nice.

Me and some buddies from work will be going shooting probably the weekend after next.

I'll be sure to post a report!

I had the boys each pick a color. I then sanded each stock. We now have a green, red, black and gold one.

Gary, we must live close to eachother because I know everywhere you mentioned in your first post. I live in Old Forge not far from Main Street and that Berger King you spoke of.

I really wish I had known about Jim Riley being in Scranton. Not only is he a great musician but so is the Bass player in his band. (I play Bass LOL)

That Rommy trainer looks great!

Good job and great report.

I'd report more but so far my OC experiences have been quite lack luster.

I've been open carrying all over the place around Harrisburg. Only two times has anybody noticed. Once at home depot when I got escorted out because 'company policy' forbids firearms. And once at WallyWorld when I was buying 1,000 rounds of 9mm WWB while open carrying (that's a whole 'nother story...nothing happened...just an interesting conversation with the persons in line behind me about the "Zombie Hunters" shirt I was wearing. They assumed I was LEO but couldn't understand the t-shirt. I handed them a flier and gave them a quick explination)

Wanna really drool over an acoustic? Sit down and play a Taylor. Un-freakin'-believable.
