Default Driving through Valley Forge Park?

I was on my way to French Creek Outfitters to shoot at the range today, and I wondered whether driving through, (or is it 'by") Valley Forge Park required any special consideration. I think I was on Rt 23.

When on 23, am I "in" a Federal park?

Hmmm that's a good question. Because 23 goes all through Valley Forge. It is a Federal Park and it's patrolled. I'm not sure how they classify it when " driving through" maybe call them and ask?? But my answer would have to be yes. But you're driving through...so it's ok.

I can't find the citation - but as long as you are on the state highway (23 or 252) - you are OK - just don't leave the paved surface. FYI - the chapel on Rt. 23 is NOT part of the park - it's private property (Episcopal church) so if you need to get off the road - that is a safe place.

Sometimes the irony is more obvious than other times. For example, the contrast between Valley Forge, which symbolizes America's fight for freedom and full civil rights for its citizens; and the arbitrary prohibitions on those rights that infest our laws today.

Those who fought and died for that cause would be appalled.

I agree it is a disgrace that we have come to the point where we have to think about the road we are driving on when we have a firearm in the car. I live at the edge of the park and my understanding is that if you get a flat, and have a gun in the car, it would be a violation of the law to pull over in one of the lots to fix it.

I absolutely agree. I thought the very same thing a couple of months ago when my oldest brother and his wife were here visiting. They wanted to go visit the historic tourist attractions in Philadelphia; Constitution Center and Independence Hall. Naturally I wanted to carry. Hell I wanted to carry 2 handguns. What would those fine men who worked so hard in Independence Hall have thought about The laws we are currently living under. They warned against it! How very ironic and sad.

If you armed you may drive through a national park, but you may not get out. So stay in your car enjoy the scenery (as it is gorgeous there). But don't get out of you car and you will be just fine.

Thanks everyone for the replies. It seems as long as I stay on the road I'm okay.
