Talking Set up and running!

Greetings all

I am good at spending money, and have had a bunch of reloading stuff sitting around for a while. Today, LastManOut came over and we spent the afternoon setting up a Lee Classic Turret Press. It took a little fiddling around to get things running right, but now that they are...

I think he might be spending some money soon too.

I am going to be spending a lot less money on factory loads, and probably a lot more money on components. I didn't load a whole bunch of rounds today, just enough to get the thing running the way it is supposed to run. Tomorrow, as is my custom, I will be at the club to break my fast, and then it will be on to the range to see if these things go bang.

Good luck man. I used to reload my own shotgun shells. It's really fun to make your own. The store I used to buy my stuff from closed down, and we just began to shoot less clay so I quit.

I really want to get a press so I can load my own 8mm. Rifle ammo is getting expensive these days.

Happy loading.

Thanks. It's just one more facet to this past time. I had a lot of fun today getting it all up and running, and seeing that first cartridge come out was neat. Getting to know another forum member is a bonus as well. I can just see more calibers, more machines, everything but more time to shoot. Mrs. Plinker and the girls are on vacation this week, so I am going to spend my time accentuating my ammunition supply.

people say you will save money reloading, they are full of SHIT. if anything i spend more money now however, i shoot so much more then i did before. i have my 9mm cost down to about 4 dollars a hundred so i can shoot about 500 for the same cost of 100 and wallmart. and thats about how much more i shoot now.

Wow! Would you care to share some sources for components? I made my decision last week at the group shoot to start saving my 9mm brass. And last night, poking through my pile of stuff, I discovered that I already own the dies for 9mm/.38 Special.

Thanks for letting me have the unpackaging and setup fun with out needing to spend the bucks (yet) for the toy.

Exciting to hear. I am a details guy so I would love to see the pics as well. In all the reading on the web about reloading, I see a lot of vague instruction so I ordered that ABCs of reloading book that another member suggested. Then I hope to join the crowd. I would like to see how you set yours up. I'll probably need to build a decent table for it.

Great to hear, guys!!! Congrats on your start. I've been reloading for about 30 years now- if you ever need help or want to actually come see progressive rifle or pistol reloading, give me a shout. Am always happy to pass on knowledge...most of what I've learned has been the hard way, and if I can save you some bumps along the road, great. I'm down in Center Valley.
