I don't OC in large, crowded places or events. I don't OC at any function that is held at someone's home such as birthday parties or when a negative incident could ruin the day for everyone else.

I OC everywhere I won't have confrontation. I still OC to the courthouse, to the gas station, to the grocery store, to the movie theatre. I do not openly carry my firearm anywhere where there will be any objection. I do not expect objection by those in authority where I carry lawfully without any expectation of objection. I will not carry openly places where I have been told to conceal, let alone go and carry there in the first place.
Generally, I carry places that acknowledge my rights as a citizen of the Commonwealth. I make good money, and if those places want to continue receiving my money, they will continue to acknowledge my rights.

Yes, I know I have posted before that I won't OC if I am shopping with my kids and a grocery list. That's just too much distraction for me to have the situational awareness I want. If I'm shopping by myself or just going in for one or two things then yes, I'll OC. There are times my husband will beg me not to OC and I'll relent also. He is VERY VERY VERY anti-OC (probably more so with me then anyone else and it's not that he thinks it should be illegal he just thinks it's more logical to CC but hey he's entitled his opinion and I'm entitled to mine) and sometimes it's just not worth the argument. Most of the time I just remind him that he's NOT in charge of me and that I don't need his permission to do anything with my firearm. I know he's really just worred that some nut will see it, somehow take it from me and use it on me...either that or that the cops will hassle me. I think the latter is more likely to happen and yeah it probably will eventually but I'm a law abider so....in the end it won't be a problem.
Now I have not had any family functions to attend since I started carrying but there will be one coming up this month when my dad visits and I have to admit I'm a little nervous about that. I don't know how everyone is going to react whether I CC or OC. Everyone in my family hugs hello and goodbye and they are GOING to notice. After a long talk with my dad last month when we visited him he has come around to the idea of me carrying but I don't know about the rest of them. NO WAY AM I NOT GOING TO CARRY THOUGH! And here's the thing, my dad is strongly opposed to anyone who is NOT a LEO CCing so....if I CC he will be annoyed! LOL. It will probably come down to whatever clothing I select for the day...is it CC friendly? heh. I can't really think of anywhere else that I CC. I will generally CC when I have clients coming in and out of here. I think they all know I carry but I don't know if it has occured to them that this means I actually keep something on me in the house or not? (Hey were are literally about 3 or 4 blocks from the county prison and they HAVE had escapees before since I've lived here and never mind the rest of the nuts running around!) If any of them ever said anything or voiced a concern I would tell them that it's holstered, I don't carry it around in my hand all day or lay it on the counter. I'm not asking any kids to hold it for a minute while I'm changing a diaper or anything stupid like that. It's ALWAYS holstered. Crime doesn't have special hours or time restraints on it. It happens anytime, anywhere to anyone. (but then you'd have to be pretty stupid to choose my house out of all the others on the block just considering the dog we have and we all know how smart criminals are)

Good Good thread! I still have yet to open carry in Lancaster county. I will one of these days. I have not seen anybody open carry yet in the county but I spotted a few concealed carriers. I tend to look for stuff like this.

Places I won't OC......
Church. Going into a bar (Wednesday Wing Night at the Rusty Nail on Irving Ave in Scranton! I don't go as often as I used to though.). I untuck before entering. Family reunions - Not so much because of me.....but my Mother has a conniption. I'll respect her wish. I now OC to kids' birthday parties (saaaay, the Icebox in Scranton), but NOT to parties at other kids' homes. I haven't had an opportunity yet, but I wouldn't OC to a wedding or funeral. I OC to my dentist and to all my kids appointments.....but I had a physical for myself last week.....and I left the XD in the car lock box. But Dr. Rogan clearly recognized the empty Serpa and it was a good gun-talk icebreaker! Work - not permitted.
