New QotD, How do you respond to,"Why do you need to carry a gun?!"?
I answered this one today with, "Because if I had to shoot somebody, I would look pretty damn stupid asking them to wait while I ran home to get it, wouldn't I.".

1. Because I'm my first line of defense when I can't afford to wait minutes for 911 to respond.
2. Because unlike a cellphone, Roaming doesn't cost extra with a gun.

My girlfriend asked me this when she first found that I was getting my LTCF.
I said "The same reason you wear a seatbelt while driving, not because you are planning on getting in an accident but because you want to be prepared if you do" Now she has accepted it as a fact and is starting to understand why I do to a point. She wont notice half the time or maybe she does and just knows she cant change my mind. She will hug me and almost always purposely touch the but of the gun to see if I have it on me or not. I also have said things like "I'd rather have it and never have to use it than need it and not have it"
