Default M91/30 sniper rifle with scope.

I now have 2 Mosin Nagant rifles. M44 and M91/30 with the straight bolt and no scope. I really would like to have a M91/30 with the bent bolt and a scope.

I would like to have the real thing and not a converted rifle but how would I know? What do I llok for. Whats a good price to pay for a real nice rifle?

I've been checking gun broker out and the rifles range from $350 to $1,500.

    Where to look for one?

    Thanks

    Tom

I got one I bought from IO about a year ago when they had them on sale .

Mine isn't an original WWII Sniper -- Those will run you upwards of $1000 or more. Decide what you want it for, Collecting or Shooting. If it's Shooting you are fine with the $450 gun, They will come with Aftermarket Scopes and Mounts that were supposedly made on the same equipment as the Originals. In my case my Rifle was All Matching even down to the Bayonet and the Scope itself is pretty nice, The Mount is a Cheap Aluminum knock-off but for $299 I'm not crying. I see these same Rifles going for $450 now.

You will need to do allot of Research if you want an Original for Collecting reasons, These are one of the easiest Rifles to Fake. You can go to to this website and learn a little something about them, Such as Markings, Types etc..

Gunbroker is always on the very high side from my experience. This one is $475 from Aimsurplus

I would be very impressed to see such a find at a Gander Mt. They had the same M44 and 91/30 model Mosins that I paid $49 and $69 for $149 each. The same $40 cans of 7.62x54R ammo was on the shelf for $79.99. Two other guys were in the ammo aisle and were commenting on the prices being rediculous. Perhaps only the York Gander Mt. feels we are rich though.

That Gander Mt had higher prices than the one near Williamsport on ammo (at least when I was in it but that is better part of a year ago now)

I'd think that getting a good shooter and having a PU and bent bolt handle added might be a good way to go about it.
Kalinka Optics has replica PU scopes and mounts and you can find bent bolt handles/bodies on gunbroker or with a google search.

I decided I wanted a shooter so I bid on this one. The guy seems real honest. What do you think guys? If you think its not worth the money please outbid me.

    Hey TTR,

Looks nice, But it's currently at $470 --with 5 days left. Personally I wouldn't go any higher than $5.00 more. But if you are willing to pay more hang in there. No reason you shouldn't be able to find a Repro for $450.

It dosen't say whether it was a Sniper to begin with that someone added the PU scope too, or whether 'Bubba' Drilled & Tapped for the Scope. As always, Buyer Beware.
