American gun owners face the same choice that Winston Churchill posed to the British people when they wondered how to face the Nazis during the 1930s:

"If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not so costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no chance of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."

CT, MA, NJ and now PA? what is going on here? These politicians do not seem to have anything better to do other than trying to legislate useless laws that have no effect on the criminal elements. I say let them people have all the guns, just tax the bullets, use the tax money from the bullets to hire more Jack Booth Thugs to crack down on them gang bangers, .............what do you folks all think about this proposal?

Who want to ban assault weapon? these weapons are not problems. It is the cops that are too lazy to walk the 'beat' or the lack of cops to enforce the laws thereof.

I am with you 100%...............just that I just give you a solution to help solve the crime in big city like Philly or Pitt. That way, they cant pass law restricting ownership every time a kid in the hood is shot, eh? you with me?

Actually one thing I would see going into effect would be promoting the need to have a course to own a firearm, not laws that make it harder to own one. But some thing that would give the average Joe buying a gun some knowledge of what he is doing.

I have seen too many times where gun shops will take a gun out of the rack or display case, unlock it, hand it over to some one who just plain aims it at a wall, then dry fires it and says hmmm how about this one?

No one ever checked if the chamber was empty! Now this person buys a gun, puts it in a case, runs home with his new toy, bullets and loads it up, never even shot a gun in his life no course in how to handle it. And says now I am protected!

To me this is a danger/accident about to happen. I believe the government should institute a firearm safety course either at the store level, or proof one was taken at the local range.

I strongly believe a course should be given to every one about how to handle a firearm, and even more strongly believe a course should be given to firearm owners when they purchase a gun. Specific guns need specific training, I believe rather then say eliminate these guns, the Government should say the need to take this course given at … is needed before the firearm can be purchased. Even the hunting course is given after the person buys their gun and is ready to go gallivanting in the woods is given after the fact. Heck mr. I didn’t know you could not use a semi auto in PA. No one told me before I bought the dern thing!! A simple hunter safety course before buying a gun would eliminate this.

Eliminate more laws, the only thing we need now is to add knowledge to the formula, both on the LE side, and the Civilian side. EDUCATE.

You couldn't prove that one to me. No way, no how do I support that type of effort. That isn't even a full step away from registration. NO WAY! I don't trust the government to keep my drivers lic. information straight, do you think I want them to know how much and what kind of training I have?

While I share your disgust for those who stayed home rather than vote, lets not make blanket statements about Dems on the local level. Both my rep and neighboring rep are both Dems and have A+ NRA ratings. In fact one of them introduced the defunct PA Castle Doctrine Bill (2231)

While I am not a Dem (or a Rep, for that matter), they will always get my vote/endorsement given the opportunity.

I was talking with the neighboring rep the other year as we occasionally run in similiar circles. The topic of a potential statewide AW ban came up and he said it has been tried for years and always get voted down. Not that we should ever become complacent, I just don't want anyone to lose hope. Still, I stronly encourage everyone to write their reps.

I think that's just beyond silly. My idea would be for some to learn the meaning of a RIGHT.

To hear such from a gun owner makes me feel like I'm in a twilight zone episode, until I remember that many hunters have no issue selling out "evil gun" shooters.

Statement made and writer is comfortable with it. Apologies to the reader who may disagree.

Well, if gun owners don't speak up then it is like accepting the ban proposition. I know PA is a gun-friendly state but what the heck is happening? Is that because too many people from NJ republik moving over? Is the people of NYC taking up resident and bringing in their anti-gun sentiments (and voted for the knuckle-heads that are introducing this proposal) here?. I don't think PA native people care if one own an AR or AK for that matter. It is almost all the illegal guns that cause the crimes and they know it.

I used to live in CT under the ban. And glad I got out of that hell hole. Them Yankee, I think are pretty whack down weird. One old guy I knew said ban all the guns after he bought the guns he wanted. He did not want the minority to have firearms......but then he talk about the democrat being the party of the "people".........yeah right, the people republic, that is.

Down here in PA, the people are more "homely" and not uptight. I think PA is going to be another battleground state for the pro-gun anti-gun. Gun owners did not have a chance in that damn Yankee state, they are outnumbered 5 t o1. Good luck.
