Contact your representatives and senator...even if they sponsored this bill (especially if they sponsored this and other anti-gun bills!). If you're in a Gun Club, pass the word to those members as well. Remind those who say "Well, nobody needs an assault rifle" that these rifles shot one round at a time...just like any hunting rifle. If the state government can ban these, they can ban hunting rifles (all rifles) just as easily.

As a foolish child, I used to think this way. (Nobody needs __________! fill in blank)

Please understand that ALL firearm owners MUST unite because the example above is probably the EASIEST, FASTEST way to the elimination of firearm ownership.

Anti-gun folk ALWAYS say that they don't want to infringe upon people's right to hunt. (or wording something like that)

I ask you, what is more important...
the ability to protect/defend your family and or country or the ability to hunt?

If you said hunt, then I certainly wouldn't want to depend on you to protect me as your priorities seem a bit out of whack.

I know someone will be upset by this, but please understand that I strongly support hunting and sharing that experience with our youth is an experience that all should enjoy... ALWAYS.

If each "group" of firearm owners throws the other under the bus, nothing good will come of it. (except for the "antis", they view you as their pawns - don't let them PLAY YOU!!!)
I know that most folks reading this understand all of this already. I'm only posting this in the hopes that someone who hasn't thought about it will consider the potential for eventual (It will not happen all at once) bans that WILL lead to the loss of most types of firearm in this country.

I've posted this link again because it is something every gun owning American sould read.
http://www.nraila.org/Issues/Articles/Read.aspx?ID=58

I hope I didn't come across as too "preachy"!
It's just see the "division" of us gun owners as the fastest path to a future nobody here wants to live in.

do you guys honestly think this junk would get passed??

Even if it were, wouldnt PA residents go down to city hall with their torches and burn it down to the ground???

Some of the language there is absolutely ridicoulous. This bill basically bans anything that goes Boom.

Regarding the "torches"...
There are a LOT more people pissed about taxes than you'll EVER see getting PO'd about anti-gun legislation and I've yet to see firemen dousing the flames at "city hall".

I used to think much like you. Perhaps its an age thing as I've seen a few more years of the anti-gun momentum than you have.
(not knocking your age here)

It may not happen THIS time. (or NEXT time or the time after that, but ignoring it isn't in your best interests)

LorDiego01, have you ever read the link I posted above? It really is a good read.

The thing that concerns me about HB30 is the extent to which they're trying to go. They're talking about banning a large portion of the legal firearms out there. This bill would ban just about everything except revolvers/semi-auto pistols, bolt-action rifles, rifles which use en-bloc clips or fixed magazines, and hunting/sporting shotguns .

And dont forget, the part about flash hiders and compensators.

A compensated 5-shot S&W 500 would be considered a Assault Weapon in this bill

In case any missed these sweet little tidbits:

(a) Grandfathered assault weapons.--A person may continue to
possess an assault weapon that the person legally possessed on
the effective date of this subchapter, if the person does all of
the following:
(1) Within 90 days following the effective date of this
subchapter, submits to a background check identical to the
background check conducted in connection with the purchase of
a firearm from a licensed gun dealer.
(2) Unless the person is prohibited by law from
possessing a firearm, immediately registers the assault
weapon with the Pennsylvania State Police pursuant to
regulations adopted for such purpose by the commissioner.

(c) Compliance check.--The Pennsylvania State Police may, no
more than once per year, conduct an inspection to ensure
compliance with this subsection.

(4) Annually renews both the registration and the background check.

Forget about being grandfathered for the ones you already own since they want you to register all within 90 days and submit to another background check. Then do so again every year. Not to worry since they can conduct a compliance check each year to make sure you are legal.

On a personal note I can not properly express the contempt and disgust I feel for our fellow citizens who stayed home last election day or voted D so to "teach" them bad R's a lesson because both parties are "the same".

School's out girls. Its reaping what we sew time. Only the true idiot blind fools among us should be surprised.

Not quite, but I'm sure that would be coming very quickly if this is not killed either in committee, in the house or by the Senate. I can assure you guys that this is something that Fat Eddie would have no problems signing since he firmly believes that all crime is committed by the firearms themselves and the criminals are merely the object being used by the weapon.

Ok so maybe i jumped the gun a bit... (no pun intended) But maybe i did subconciously to prove the point that you said above. Its just a matter of time, and just reinforces why we need to get all the gun owners united against this. I swear this bill is just another example of legislators scrubbing their shoes on the Consitutional door mat

I wish they taught the Constitution in public schools, i never had the oppertunity until after i made it to college.

Well before you leave, give your legislator hell about this at least for our sake.

And for everyone else, the next scheduled meeting of the House Judiciary Committee is February 26 @1pm (room 140, Main Capitol building), so get those complains and voices heard!
