You hit the nail on the head. But dang, if I had a room filled with the stuff in the picture that MrBi11 posted, I'd never leave it. Reminds me of the late Hal Fillinger's gun room - actually three floors of a concrete block-house with knock-out gas as a back-up. If it ever went off, you had to put on a rebreather, take the stairs to the third floor, and turn on a vent which removed all the gas.

My take on security, after reading a lot of stuff online is...
1. A safe is more fire / water protection than theft protection given a time period. If a burglar knows you will be gone for a few hours, they will have time to get what they want.

2. Posting pictures of every firearm you own on an open internet forum is a great way to give those who might be looking for easy guns a shopping list in your home.

Yup...

A good hammer (sledgehammer) and chisel will get a lot of safes open very quickly. And don't even get me started on key locks... Given a half hour I personally can open almost any key lock I've ever tried. Lockpicks are really quite easy to use, once you know the general idea of what to do. Put a key lock in front of a professional (or experienced picker) and it won't last a minute.

I once visited someone's apartment a day after it got raided by the police. There was a safe in the apartment. After a couple of minutes in the hands of the police it became a regular box with a poorly fitting lid.

How do we bolt our safe to the ground for maximum security?



Assuming concrete, you just drill 3/8" or whatever size holes for lag bolts.

Hammer in the receiving end for the bolt...when you bolt it down, it expands and the force is transferred to the inner portion of the hole.

Basically the same as a drywall screw, only metal instead of plastic.

edit: well, the net calls it an expansion anchor bolt.

I am writing this note to thank your company for doing an excellent job with my gun safe. I had a great experience from start to finish. I had seen the safe I wanted online and called to get more information. I was in contact with Brenda at the office. Brenda was very informative and very professional, you should be happy to have her as a employee. I ordered the safe on 10/14/08 and it was delivered on 10/21/2008. I had it quicker then I had anticipated. I received a call that I would be receiving the safe on Tuesday between 1:00 and 3:00. I was home at 1:00 and the safe showed up right at 1:00, I did not have to wait all day for the delivery. The driver was very professional and curtious. He had a pallet jack and wheeled it to the garage as I had requested with no questions. I have installed the safe in the location I had planned and I am extremely satisfied.

I to own a business that requires us to do retail sales and in home deliverys. I am aware of how diffcult it can be to find reliable and professional employees. I would be proud to have a team as professional as yours.

Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how happy I am with my new safe. The workmanship and quality are second to none.



Before I purchased it, I did a major search in gun stores, safe stores, etc. Based on that, I started to formulate opinions. Based on what is currently out there on the market today, this safe is worth at least twice what I paid for it. You have a fan in me and I am going to tell everyone I know about the safe and have them take a look at it. Also, I am so glad that I had a chance to stop in and talk to Brenda. Not only was she friendly, but she was extremely knowledgeable about he product and as a result, I increased my order to include the 3rd hinge and additional fire protection (and am I glad I did).



As a side note, I seem to be having problems getting the plastic battery cover to shut. I have taped it shut right now. I don’t know if I did something wrong or what. Can you help or can you point me to someone who could assist? Thanks in advance.

The problem here is the 10ga body and the DOOR thickness is not 1.5" or 2" worth of plate, it is composite, a steel wrapped shell.

I am not sure but I think it was on this forum that someone showed their gun safe. It was a tool chest. The kind that you see in the back of trucks owned by construction workers. Big, heavy metal box's that the person had put a couple of inches of sand into the bottom then a wood base. Then lined it with some rug scraps. In it he has all his guns and ammo. It sits in the middle of the living room covered with a table cloth and just looks like a coffee table.

The fact that it is hidden does more for it than just the locks. A friend of mine has a closet with a false back wall. The front part has shelf's full of baby stuff. The latch to the false door is behind the diapers.

My 'grab and go' bag is a diaper bag. My range bag can fit inside. If I have to bug out and spend time in a shelter I will have two diaper bags with me. One will be full of guns and ammo and the other will be full of MRE's and water.
