As the subject says: Hoppes Lubricating oil in my eye. FYI don't buy the aerosol can - it shoots in a stream at mach 20. So yeah I sprayed my mop and got some splatter in my eye. The Warning on the back says to flush (done) and seek medical assistance. Would a good flush suffice?
It didn't even hurt. I figured it would have burned or something - nope. But I can open my eye 100x faster than before! :P Thanks |

It's rather embarrassing but at least it got a laugh :P Nah - no vision problems. It didn't even bother my eye which is why I thought it was weird. I'll flush them again yet tonight just to be on the safe side.
I might leave this up just to see how many people get a laugh :P |

This is an excellent cologne. It has gotten me laid numerous times.

I was thinking about that - I think the solvent smells better :P

Id recommend calling your doctor to get his opinion, but from the sound of it you should be ok. |

yeah I figured if my eye was damaged it would have at least hurt (which it did not). I flushed my eye and I'm having no problems now. It actually hurt more to flush my eye than it did to get lubricant in it :P Go figure.
Moral of the story: Don't buy gun cleaning products in aerosol. |

As the self proclaimed Doc here on PAFOA I would say that the flush is all you really need. The oil probably had the same effect on your eye that your normal mucous membrane has. The membrane covers the eye and allows for easy opening and closing. The irritation comes from that membrane being wiped away, allowing your eye to be exposed to things it is not normally exposed to. Soap has this effect as soap naturally repels these type of substances.

Hoppes 9 Lubricating oil ingredients:
Mineral Oil Liquefied Petroleum Gas Methyl Acetate Heptane I don't think it's a problem. Though I wouldn't recommend using it for contact solution :P |
