Default CC/OC at my daughter's wedding

Today was a big day in the Plinker household. Our second daughter was married today, just a little over a year after our first daughter tied the knot with her husband. Both men are named and go by Anthony. But that is another story.

We started out last evening with a rehearsal and dinner for all involved. I struck up a conversation with the pastor of her church, and discovered that he carries a .357 mag. During the conversation I gave him one of PA Patriot's fliers, and discovered also that numerous men in the congregation carry to church as well as during the week.

One thing led to another, and this morning as the women were all doing their hair and giggling and whatever it is they do for three hours before the wedding, we (the pastor, my future son-in-law, our youngest daughter, and myself) were out at the church camp sending 9mm and .45 ACP rounds into a couple of targets. He encouraged me to OC at the wedding itself, which was fine with my daughter and her intended. Her intended was in fact carrying himself, although CC, since he did not have the appropriate holster.

I walked her down the aisle in CC mode, since my suit jacket covered my stainless steel Colt .45 with the rosewood grips. It is as close as I have to a BBQ gun. But at the reception, which we had in the basement, the jacket came off, and the Colt was out for all to see. There were numerous jokes about a .45 wedding instead of a shotgun wedding, and several people engaged me with questions about guns, shooting, and carrying in general. Overall it was very positive.

I got to OC very briefly on the street in Beaver Falls, and then again later on in Cranberry Twp. No problems, no worries, and no cops. It has been a long day, but now we are two down with one to go. We aren't too worried about her getting married anytime soon, as she doesn't know anyone named Anthony.

Oh yeah, we have now established a new tradition, as this is the second time I have taken the groom to be shooting the day of his wedding. One more to go, and then I can start with the granddaughters.

Did you get permission from the Dickson City and Wilkes-Barre Police Departments for your obviously criminal activities? Remember, there were children present! Old ladies must have fainted right and left.

All levity aside, good for you!

A church pastor who packs during mass? I wonder if his pistol is blessed. That is refreshing to hear. It just goes to show that ANYONE can be carrying at any time.
