Default Chevy Silverado vs .45 ACP (pics)

Thought I'd share this.

I posted this on another forum I belong to, but it's something any gun owner should read.

Warning: If you are a Chevy owner, this post contains language and graphic images which you may find disturbing!!!

It happened this past 4th of July. We were in our neighbor's back yard watching fireworks going off all over the place and heard a loud BAAAANGGG!!! Not an "explosive" bang, more of a "hit something hard" bang. We ran to the street thinking someone hit a car with something but saw nothing. Walking back I noticed something on the roof of my Silverado that I had just finished rinsing off (fireworks debris), I picked up the hose to blast it off the roof, but stopped and decided to see what it was... Holy CRAP! it was a bullet! THAT was the source of the BANG we heard! I got a stepladder and flashlight and the sight I saw made me sick. My 2001 Silverado SLT that I have kept SPOTLESS since buying it new, had a deep dent in the roof near the third brake light! It didn't quite hit hard enough to go through but broke the paint and the dent was about 1/2" deep.

Here's a link with pics of the bullet/damage/repair:
http://s53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...llet%20Damage/

Thank God it didn't land on anyone's head! There were about 35 people including small children just yards away.
We called the police (just a formality so I'd have paperwork for insurance) who took the bullet. I did get the pics of it before they arrived. The officer believed it was a .45 (he took out his spare mag for comparison - he carries a .45). You can see by the shape of the bullet and impact damage that it must have come nearly straight down. Some Ass#@le thought it would be COOL to celebrate by shooting his gun in the air.
Who knows if he fired more than one round?!!! That single act of carelessness nearly caused someone to be SERIOUSLY injured and caused hundreds of dollars in damage to a truck I worked very hard for. (My wife says I tossed and turned all night that night)
So, if you've thought about shooting into the air to "celebrate" - please don't. If you MUST make noise, use firecrackers, or BLANKS!
Just don't do something that could hurt someone!
(Anyone know where I can get a Kevlar carport?)

Dumbasses shootin' guns off.

We had someone up here fire a gun off in the air over July 4th weekend. Well what goes up, came down and hit a girl in the head. I think she was in a coma and then died. This was something like 6 years ago. They found the person, someone probably turned him in. Don't remember what ever happened to the guy but I'm sure he's in prison, or was.

And the worse part is the idiot that shot in the air like that owns a gun. I know I would be mad also. Some people don't think.

There are some dumb people out there.

This is completely unrelated, but here's one on .45ACP vs. Cadillacs (1980's DeVilles)

In through this one...

Out the other side...

And into this one...

Not everything exited the first one, and nothing exited the second one! Still, everything made it through the first door!

These were fired from a Stemple 76/45 subgun with about a 6" or 7" barrel.

Towns next to me in jersey where I used to live people shoot their guns in the streets during the forth of july. I'm not joking. Odds of a bullet landing near you pretty amazing.
