DICKSON CITY DOWN TO 4 FULL-TIME COPS

DICKSON CITY-POLICE CHIEF WILLIAM STADNITSKI IS ON LEAVE UNTIL AT LEAST NEXT MONTH FOLLOWING AN UNSPECIFIED WORK RELATED INJURY.

THE LOSS BRINGS THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO A ROSTER OF FOUR FULL-TIME OFFICERS, SOMETHING ABOUT WHICH RESIDENTS AND COUNCIL MEMBERS EXPRESSED CONCERN DURING A BOROUGH MEETING TUESDAY EVENING.

THE BOROUGH HAS BEEN SORTING THOUGH THE LEGAL ISSUES OF HIRING OFFICERS SINCE LAST YEAR. AT THAT TIME, IT HAD BEEN CONCERNED WITH HAVING ONLY SIX FULL-TIME OFFICERS ON DUTY.

WHILE CHIEF STADNITSKI IS ON LEAVE, PATROLMAN JIM SZEWCZYK HAS BEEN APPOINTED THE ACTING CHEIF FOR THE DEPARTMENT.

Seems like them sorting through legal issues in hiring officers probably stemmed from the firing, losing large lawsuit, and then having to rehire Gallagher, in addition to other officer related lawsuits that they had to payout on. They were probably trying to come up with a pre-nup.....
