amend the best buy store....i went today around 4:00 pm, to buy a new PC. after i finished my purchase, the store manager (politely) informed me that the company policy was no (openly displayed) weapons.

"so, you let me walk around here 3 days within a week and a half, and waited til i dropped $628 to tell me that?"

awkward silence.

"uh..."

"oh, nevermind. should i take this back to customer service, then?"

"that won't be necessary, sir. it's just a company policy. it's not necessarily enforced by all our stores..."

"right...."

do i return the purchase, and risk the wrath of anna, or just take mystuff and go?

i punked out, and just made a promise to myself to find another electronics store for the next big purchase.

hey, none of you guys have to deal with anna.

Not telling you what to do here, but in addition to sharing that with us, it wouldn't hurt to share your decision to take your money elsewhere with the manager.

Was just googling info and found this which is only a dismissal but the rest of the counts went through for the court. Gives insight to what kind of people the Dickson City police are:

First let me say that what ever jahwarrior decides to do is totally up to him (and apparently anna too).

That being said, there are some things which would irritate me to the point of returning the purchase:

Despite the fact that I personally don't ask for permission, it did happen in this case. The response was basically 'No problem', and delivered in a humorous fashion.

Then, after a couple of trips and a pretty decent purchase, all of a sudden there is a problem.

But then, after expressing surprise and the sequence of events the manager offered a wishy-washy 'the policy might not be enforced'.

I totally support the manager's right to have any policy he wishes, but it seems to me he is trying to have it both ways. I would return the purchase, and ask to speak with the manager. I would then clearly explain why that item was returned and inform him that any future business would depend on what policy he chose. Chose whatever you wish, then stick with it. I'm done playing games. If you don't want me here, fine. Say so. Otherwise, if I'm welcome here (with my firearm) I don't expect it to be brought up again.

I've been into Best Buy three times since June 17th.....each time OC.

Most recent was today. I visit the Geek Sqaud counter (they're coming to my house tomorrow for the 2nd time), the main checkout registers, and associates throughout the store)

Nobody said a word.....not even the bouncer dude at the door who demands your receipt when you leave.

I continue to OC every chance I get......but I haven't frequented any new places worth mentioning (I don't tend to mention gas stations or mini-marts).

Stats from our July 4th outing in Dickson City as originally reported here:
  • We visited 101 businesses that were not on the list as provided by Chief Stadnitski. We found 0 signs prohibiting firearms.
  • We visited 19 businesses that were on the list as provided by Chief Stadnitski. We found 0 signs prohibiting firearms.
  • During the course of the day, we entered 7 Dickson City businesses (included in the above mentioned stats). Five of them were not on the list, two were, including the Viewmont Diner, where we had a delicious lunch and friendly, excellent service. We did not receive any negative comments at all, and were not asked to cover our firearms or to leave any establishment that we entered.
  • As previously reported, Denny's does have a sign posted. As of this report, the sign is still in place.
I intend to note all of this info in the next week when I make my next inquire with Chief Stadnitski as to the status of his little project.

List of Dickson City businesses we visited:
  • Sam's Club - A female customer asked Rich if he had a 'gun permit'. He replied that he did, but in PA one was not required for OC. She said that she carried a gun when she was at home (Georgia) and wondered if she could open carry here and if her GA permit was recognized. We answered both in the affirmative and gave her a pamphlet. She thanked us and we parted ways.
  • Best Buy - Stopped by to look for a serial to USB converter. Found one, but was too high-priced.
  • Viewmont Diner - Had some excellent gyros for lunch.
  • Sheetz - Stopped for gas and snacks
  • Petco - Stopped to get doggie drugs so Rich's dogs don't freak out over the fireworks. Asked for assistance to find them and had a few-minute conversation with a clerk about the various options.
  • Circuit City - Continued my search for a serial to USB converter. Didn't find any on the shelf, so I asked an employee. They didn't have any, which explained why we couldn't find them. Two other employees told us "Have a nice day" on the way out.
  • Wal-Mart - Picked up some little flags.

After we left Dickson city, we went to Wilkes-Barre, where we met up with mystery_man and walked about two miles around the downtown area, including passing by the police department twice. After the walk, as we stood on the corner chatting, an officer drove by. Rich said he almost broke his neck twisting it to see my pistol, but he did not stop, and there was no additional response (we were a block from the station). Also, on the way back home we made a quick stop and the Wilkes-Barre township K-mart.

All-in-all, just another totally uneventful OC day.
