Seeing as long-arms can (in PA) be bought and sold Face to Face without any paperwork or dealers involved, I don't see how one could "track" it... it's not like a car that gets entered into multiple databases every time you sell and register it.

Though if there is a site like Carfax but for firearms, that would be cool!

If you're looking for the history of the gun, I believe there is a Mosin Nagant web site. I'd google that and see what they have to offer.

I read it that you want to know any possible military history of your particular gun.

I think what he's looking for is a site that can tell him where in the military history of the world has his particular weapon been, not neccessarily previous legal owners per se. But as Mosins were to my knowledge stripped referbed and sent back out to the lines you would have a hard time finding a clear history for it, unless you got one with all the serial numbers matching. Mine does not, I got it for a song at a Dunhams years ago.

www.surplusrifle.com and www.mosinnagant.net are two of the better sites for this gun that haven't been already mentioned.

I have 2 the M44 with a attached Bayonet and a M38 with a sweet laminant stock.

Use calipers and measure the bore for sizing, they were designed to use a cupped bullet that allowed for mfg variences, some are as big as 7.9, it depends.

But as surplus ammo is still pretty cheap for this it's good. If you can find surplu in non-corossive primers get that. Otherwise, keep it clean right away after each time shooting. Try to find some brass cased stuff, Prvi Partisan shoots well and is reletivly cheap for brass case

This may not be the right forum (sorry-fng) but would you consider your m44 accurate enough to pass for a deer gun? I was thinking about picking one up for that purpose.

Thanks.

Yes. The old joke is you can shoot someone from the next county over without issue.
