Default Purchasing a handgun from across the state.

Hello:

Can someone explain how someone would go about purchasing a handgun from another individual from across the state. I know it has to involve a dealer, but how does it get transferred into your name and so forth.

Thanks!
-John

The handgun needs to be sent to a FFL in your home state when you pick it up from the FFL you will do the paperwork. the sending dealer need to have a copy for the receiving dealers FFL before it is sent. so both ends need to talk to the respective dealers. in this process you can ask about transfer fees some dealers won't provide this service.

If the FFL in PA wil accept a shipment from an individual, the seller can send it via common carrier (UPS, FedEx, etc.) to the receiving FFL. The buyer then goes to the FFL to do the necessary paperwork and takes possession ofm the gun.

If the receiving FFL does not accept shipments from and individaul then the seller wil have to get a FFL in his state to send to to the FFL in PA.

This appears to be an intrastate transfer where the buyer decided it was cheaper to have it shipped than it was to pick up the arm.

MEDIC3446, could you confirm that you are both PA residents?

Even if it is intrastate, the same scenerio as my previous post. If utilizing a FFL the sending FFL can ship a handgun to the receiving FFL via USPS, or common carrier. If the individual is doing the shipping, it must go common carrier to the receiving FFL.
