Wow, I watched the vids and according to their version, the man shot 800 rds semi-auto before the problem started. In that case, I retract my previous post and hand the WTF over to the BATF and the judge. I want to see how this plays out and what the facts are.

Told to me by a former federal agent:

The ATF views the NRA as worse than the KKK.

I know a fellow that is ATF and belongs to the NRA. I ask him what his coworkers think. He stated he does not give a shit. Even has the decal on his vehicle and all.

Be safe.

Thsi is definately a WTF story. Lesson, if your ar15 ever breaks and goes full auto, tear it down at the range and destroy the parts...... you can buy a new trigger group. Its not worth the conviction trying to repair. Definately BS if you ask me, but who knows. Without all the facts I cant tell for sure what happened.

The M16A2 service rifle is a light weight, magazine fed, air cooled, gas operated, shoulder fired weapon, capable of firing either semi-automatic or three-round burst.

it is taught in boot camp, to dumbass recruits btw, that heavy use can result in sear wear/carbon buildup causing multi-round bursts, even full auto fire. This would apply to any semi auto on the planet. Wear the sear/build up a carbon deposit, get multi burst.

here's the REAL story. The ATF wanted this guy for his other actions/associations, and an excuse was dropped in their laps... period.

Haanstad said Olofson had provided weapons and ammunition to so many people he couldn't keep track.
illegally? no, no one said that did they?

Quote:
A search of his home turned up books on converting rifles to fully automatic,
books! AHHHHH!!!!

Quote:
and e-mail on his computer showed he bought M-16 parts, records show.
were the M16 parts used to convert his rifle into full-auto or is this just more useless information meant to trick the reader?

Quote:
Olofson had contact with vigilante groups and professed to be part of the sovereign movement, which doesn't acknowledge federal laws as applying to them, Haanstad said.
ok so what does that actually mean? he lives in Wisconsin, where it's illegal to carry a concealed weapon. I live in PA that has relatively fair gun laws and I'm still an activist. I suppose he could be associated with dangerous people but based on the spin of the rest of the article, the "vigilante groups" they could be talking about could be the NRA.

that article makes me wonder how much of these accusations could apply to you or me with the right spin, even though we don't break gun laws.
